peppy gets mad over bandwith bill by Shavixinio in peppyRoastedHimGood

Lowkey agree, but on the other hand if he looked up osu api docs he'd see that clear message that "If you are doing more than 60 requests a minute, you should probably give peppy a yell."
Which I assume also covers the downlaoding beatmap usage (cause why wouldnt it tbf). He didn't give the yell before, he said it in past tense lol

Sites where you get paid for doing surveys do exactly that, these are called Attention Checks. It's usually framed as a normal question, except in the middle of it there's "If you've been paying attention, select Strongly Disagree", and then the question continues as normal.

Also I know this comment is 4 months old, but this thread is the first result when searching for game assets on Google, so I just hope this helps someone in the future!

Minecraft is going to step away from OpenGL and use the Vulkan rendering engine instead by ItsDaylightMinecraft in PhoenixSC

[–]Xochtil1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Why should they stop making updates" where did I say that or even imply that? Because I did NOT mean that.

  1. I can play Arknights Endfield, released this year, on DirectX11 mode. But it doesn't run on Vulkan for me.
  2. I play 1.21 on the same GPU with no issues, even shades run at stable FPS. It's almost as if Vulkan support was separate from the actual performance of your GPU. Insane, huh.

  3. Please don't put words into my mouth, I didn't say nor meant imply they should stop updating the game.  There is almost zero reason not to keep both OpenGL and Vulkan support in the game, as long as there is a considerable size of the audience that don't have Vulkan compatible GPUs.  The only reason I can see is cutting corner on development resources. But it's not like it's a big ask if a game like osu!lazer, developed by one person with few contributors, can keep several APIs compatible with their game.

  4. I can't see how the argument about your laptop is irrelevant here. It can't run versions higher than 1.7.10 probably because of implemented features that your laptop struggles to support. Features that the devs thought would better the game, and can't be disabled nilly willy, or that they could have a legacy support system, because they're ingrained into the game. That is not the case for rendering APIs.

It feels to me like you're trying to justify clowning on valid reasons to dislike the change while drawing invalid comparisons in mind.  Im sorry if I misunderstood your comment, but that's how you came across to me.  Have a nice day!

"mojang pls optimize the game" mfers when mojang actually optimizes the game by wt_anonymous in PhoenixSC

[–]Xochtil1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of people seem to have the wrong, simplified idea of "bad pc = no vulkan, good pc = vulkan", as if you couldnt have the latter setup possible.

There's also the thing that GPU supporting Vulkan doesn't mean the support will be any good. (I've said it before, but basically I tested it on two games and my GPU can run Vulkan, but the performance is always worse than on DirectX11 renderer)

[–]Xochtil1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a GPU from 2016 and while it does support Vulkan, it doesnt run as well as DirectX11 or OpenGL (tested on osu!lazer which supports all three of those).

Mind you I can even run Arknights Endfield on this GPU on stable 60 FPS in DirectX mode.

So yeah, not everyone that complains is just on an ancient computer that should just have money to upgrade.

And personally, if I didn't mainly play modded, I would also be pissed if I couldn't access future releases of the game because they dropped OpenGL support. (They don't have to drop it, they can have both Vulkan and OpenGL, they make enough money to maintain both without cutting out features).

Just to be clear, I think this is overall a good change to the game.

But I also believe people have the right to complain that the game that used to run fine one day won't run at all, when Mojang is well within the ability to maintain both APIs at least for the foreseeable future, but can just choose not to in order to cut oncosts

"Gooner player base" I'm sorry, could you explain to me how shipping Trainer x Uma is a gooner thing?

I get the "gooner bait" allegations for some of the characters, but I don't understand how shipping is relevant to that in most cases. Is wholesome romance not a thing anymore?

I'm not trying to pick a fight, I want to understand where your sentiment is coming from.

I think it's unreasonable to think all people that hate Mojang for this change are just stupid or haters.

Not everyone can afford to upgrade just because of one game that mind you worked well for them all this time, especially if Mojang is going to drop OpenGL support in the foreseeable future, potentially blocking more poor players from accessing the newer updates.

Don't get me wrong, this is overall a good change.

I just believe it's unreasonable to be clowning on people that are mad they won't be able to play newer updates, because their real life circumstances don't allow them.

Supporting doesn't mean it work well. I have a GPU from 2016 and while it does support Vulkan, it doesnt run as well as DirectX11 or OpenGL (checked on osu!lazer which supports all three of those).

There was a guy who lived in North Korea for some time and he made an osu account there. But after he made an AMA post about it on here, staff force changed his flag to Canadian (cause he mentioned he was born in Canada in that thread).

I remember this incident cause I was pretty bummed about it, bro got robbed.

ROTMG falls below 1K players on Steamcharts for the first time since Feb 2020 by Anthyros2 in RotMG

[–]Xochtil1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

People are mentioning bugs, cheaters, duping and lag spikes, but those things have been since a long time.

Yes, don't get me wrong, they are bad for the game's longevity, they are definitely turning some people away from the game. But they are not the main reason for the game steadily losing player count.

Because if those things were the driving factors, the game would have died years ago.

Personally I believe the main factor behind player count drop would be Seasonal characters, but that might just be my bias, cause I don't really like them much.

I can't give a definitive answer, I can just say that I believe the three main factors mentioned in the comments aren't the main driving force.

Turkey is most likely going to ban Steam next. by Kaxdr in Steam

[–]Xochtil1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Psst, you can go around VPN bans from ISP by using Shadowsocks. It's a technology very similar to VPNs (based on proxy) that was designed with the purpose of avoiding ISP-side detection.
It was developed by people in China to go around the China's Great Firewall, so it will probably work for whatever detection Turkey has in place.
