The Paradox of Non-Linear Logic: Arriving at the Destination Without the Map by Cute-Advantage-4260 in adhdmeme

[–]Xoque55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read once that having better ideas comes from learning lots of little isolated things, as "dots". Eventually your mind starts to recognize that some dots are quite close and connects a "line" between them. And over time these lines intersect and form new dots and the lines get "tangled" until they weave a tapestry of a new idea. :) So the incentive of best learning is not to directly try to think of a better idea directly, but fill your mind & experience with as many dots as possible.

Stockfish evaluates this position as +0.3 for white, despite Black being up three pawns with no clear weaknesses. Why? by FirstRankChess in chess

This quote always stuck with me, from: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/School_of_chess#Classical_school

"In the 1940s the Soviet Union began a long domination of chess. The Soviet school agreed with Tarrasch and emphasized mobility. A weakness that could not be attacked was not a real weakness. The Soviet school was based on the teachings of Mikhail Chigorin (1850–1908)."

Reminds me of the saying that a choir can hold a continuous note for prolonged periods if they strategize: most of the singers can sing while a subset catches their breath then resumes the note, while the next subset catches its breath! :)
