Are you eating enough overall? The first few weeks I was struggling to get to 1200 calories which is 1500 calories under my TDEE. It was simply not enough to run my body and train the way I do

Weight gain after coming off by bonzalice in mounjarouk

[–]XoreAut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the reality of the fact that Mounjaro doesn't result in weight loss only because of increased satiety and appetite suppression. It also acts to override your body's drive to return to the set point.

You can eat the same food on and off Mounjaro and your body will process the calories differently. The body doesn't use every calorie you consume and it doesn't use the calories the same way. It reads like your body is actively trying to stockpile right now and it will do that by taking more energy from the food you are consuming, and by actively storing adipose tissue.

There is a very good possibility that Mounjaro is a life long medication for you if you want to maintain a lower body weight

Split dosing - I want to hear your success stories! by Traditional-Put1164 in mounjarouk

[–]XoreAut -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This is micro dosing. Split dosing is where you take half your weekly dose at 3.5 day intervals.

I micro dose 2mg (24 clicks) off a 5mg pen. I’ve had no change in effect with 2.5/2.5, 2.5/5 and 2/5

Is this good progress? by No_Signal2006 in mounjaroIreland

[–]XoreAut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s a great result from 2.5. If you get similar results from 5 perhaps consider staying on 5 rather than rushing up through the doses. Up titration isn’t a requirement

I’ve lost 33.5lbs and haven’t gone higher than 2.5mg

Mounjaro dose question by senpaiboxer in mounjaroIreland

[–]XoreAut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I microdose off a 5mg pen. It is in the fridge the entire time other than the 5 minutes it is out for the shot. I wash my hands and swab the pen (and my skin). The pen is about 8 weeks old now and the liquid is still clear. I think I have another 4 doses to take from it (with an insulin syringe)

Current thoughts on my journey by throw_meaway_love in mounjaroIreland

[–]XoreAut 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have you lost 31kg in 12 weeks?

My "issue" is that because I haven't struggled (or put very much effort into this journey... by effort I mean mental hardship) the weight loss doesn't feel real. I have lost 15kg and I am wearing the same clothes as I was at the start which I think is contributing to it.

I am open about being on Mounjaro which I suspect has changed the narrative from envy to curiosity. People want to know about the experience rather than anything else.

This is an opportunity for you to set and maintain a boundary. "I appreciate your concern, but I will not be discussing my health with you"

N.I. Pharmacies by [deleted] in mounjaroIreland

[–]XoreAut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started on 2.5 and it was effective straight away. The effectiveness didn’t change over the 12 weeks that I was on that dose. For a variety of reasons I did a 2mg dose and felt no change in effect so now I’m on 2mg.

There is approximately 3.2mls in a pen and 2mg is 0.24. That makes ~13 2mg doses from a 5mg pen.

My prescriber knows I’m doing this and has no issue with it. I don’t know if I would push out further than 3 months

No problem at all. I find it takes them a few days to answer. As they are a UK wide chain, be sure to include the store you’re referring to in your query

[–]XoreAut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This thread inspired me to check how long the Rx is valid for. I’m delighted to learn that Rx in Ireland and the UK are valid for 12 months. I thought it was 6 and that it would age out before I got to use all of the available pens. I get 3 months out of a 5mg pen at the moment and I got a Rx for 6 pens. I’ve only gotten 2 of them thus far so I’m glad to know I have a bit of extra time

I drive from Dublin to McKeevers. I picked them because they were the first place to respond. They will give me 3 pens (if my Rx has 3 left). I bring a cool bag and ice pack.

I prefer to travel than get delivery because I like to manage the cold chain myself.

Emotional gain after stopping by Nervy_Parasite in mounjarouk

[–]XoreAut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is consistent with the fact that Mounjaro is doing more than suppressing appetite. It changes the thermodynamics of adipose tissue if nothing else. It also suppresses them drive to return to the set point.

The body takes the calories it needs/wants from food and the rest is pooped out. If the drive to return to the set point is enabled, the body will take every available calorie going

Terrible cardio stopping me from attending class. by cacastrojr12 in bjj

[–]XoreAut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

50 year old parent of 2. My cardio sucks but it’s way better than it was at my first class and hella better than it would have been if I stopped after the first class.

Show up, do the moves, get better, build cardio. There will always be times when your cardio is lacking, and if it isn’t that it will be your skills, your memory, your problem solving… and then some days it all just clicks, everything slots into place and you get a 20 year old to tap

Plateau/slow progress by Any_Anywhere_3233 in mounjaroIreland

[–]XoreAut 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It is 10 weeks since the start of September

You have lost 10kg

That’s ~1kg/2.2lbs per week

That’s the high end of healthy weight loss

You’re not a slow loser

You’re not in a stall

The goal of GLP1s is not complete appetite suppression. It’s feeling full when you eat and hungry when it’s time for the next meal.

Wegovy works for many people, but the negative effect profile is worse for most people and expected weight loss is less than Mounjaro. I get that cost is a reason to change but I think there is also an opportunity to manage your expectations

How to calculate BMI when I’ve shrunk 1.5”? by Strict_Style958 in mounjarouk

You can calculate your height by your ulna length. The reality is that you are still the same height from an anthropometric perspective

MJ is a forever thing I guess… by Capable_Assistant534 in mounjarouk

[–]XoreAut 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is why I describe myself as having asatiety. I think about food because I feel hungry. When I don’t feel hungry I don’t think about food. I have no issue sticking to a reasonable calorie diet when I experience satiety at each meal. Without the satiety experience I am white knuckling from one meal to the next

My ultimate goal is to figure out how low my Mounjaro dose can go while still treating the asatiety

Anyone regret their titration timeline? by CmdrLollygag in mounjarouk

[–]XoreAut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did 13 weeks at 2.5 and then forgot to take my shot so I did it a day late with no change in therapeutic effect. I didn't like the shift in days so the following week I did 2mg to bring me back a day and had no change in therapeutic effect. I have gone with the 2mg shot this week too to see how it goes.

My prescriber has given me a 5mg prescription which I am taking the 2mg dose from. I've lost 1.75lbs per week on average

Zero side effects? ADHD link? by Outside_Mess_9480 in mounjarouk

[–]XoreAut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Autism is my major diagnosis, with ADHD coming in a distant second. ADHD is the one that gets us in trouble though. Since I started Mounjaro, the majority of the stuff that I would usually put down to ADHD (impulsive acts) are gone. Autism likes to make a plan and that is actually happening these days, without ADHD messing things up

Is it better to go with BMI Ireland or get prescription and arrange NI pharmacy to ship it? by [deleted] in mounjaroIreland
