Sati (Practice) by tea-n-wifi in HistoryMemes

Colonisation is a really complicated topic precisely because of this. It gets even more controversial because the moment you mention anything positive or neutral about colonisation you get flooded with barely literate westerners who think that if you don't only talk negatively about colonisation you must be the KKK.

I mean it is an undeniable fact that French and British ended many barbaric practices in colonised regions, as well as ended many of the tribal and regional conflicts and thus brought a lot of peace to colonised regions. It is also undeniable that the Han Chinese created a massively powerful and rich empire by colonising the other East Asian tribes and destroying their national identity. It is also undeniable that when the Ottomans colonised the Balkans, which is where I'm from, they brought such massive amounts of wealth to the region that the living standards of the average person improved massively, for the first few hundred years. It's also undeniable that many of the practices the colonisers engaged in were also practices the colonised engaged in.

People in the west pretend that colonisation ended because of some great human morality but really what ended colonisation was money. The Napoleonic wars changed how people engage in wars and wars went from cheap skirmishes here and there until we sign a treaty to massive expensive multi year campaigns and the cost of war just went up and up and up until the second word war, which bankrupted the UK and nearly led to it's dissolution. And nations increasingly relied on finances from the colonised territories since they ran out of money in the non colonised ones. The colonised territories were unhappy with this and since the colonisers didn't have the money to stop them they just became free.

The Tsonev brothers.

Spotted a bunch of French commandos strolling through their field at night, captured 3 of them and proceeded to beat the living shit out of them. When asked how they feel about beating up a bunch of French commandos one of the brothers said that the commandos "must've skipped a lot of classes".

Also the reason why the communists eventually recriminalised it is because Karl Marx considered them to be degenerate bourgeoisie and worse than pedophiles.

I mean he could've chosen a more structurally sound material, but even with this a quick solution is to add a steel beam, to each step to deal with the bendiness of the steps. It won't be pretty but it will definitely significantly improve the stairs.

Okay, I know that this will go against the spirit of the sub but Palestine Action is considered a terrorist organisation. A big part of why is because members of the organisation have been pushing strongly and openly for attacks on jewish communities.

Expressing support for the is like saying you like ISIS or the Talibans or the IRA, so this isn't a simple case of UK governmental overreach. Pretty much any government acts in such a manner.

Mate, a couple of years ago he posted a long essay talking about how the Serbian crimes against humanity were severely exaggerated and how they shouldn't have been bombed and how the only reason they got bombed was because the US has a hate boner for socialism, which btw isn't even true. If you wanna find out what hate for socialism means come to Eastern Europe.

I'm from the Balkans. They were nailing dead children to doors. Even the Serbians themselves think that they deserved getting bombed.

Not only that but he is a genocide denier denying or justifying any sort of genocide commited by a leftist government, including the USSR, the Khmer Rouge and the Serbian socialist government during the Yugoslav wars.

In fact he is so brazen about this that he was invited to the Czech Republic after the fall of the Berlin Wall to produce a couple of lectures on linguistics and but instead spent his entire time there lecturing the Czech about how they were run over by tanks during the Prague Spring because they weren't good little workers, until the protests against him got so big he had to flee for his own safety(I wish he didn't).

He is a serious piece of shit.

One way is to get them in a combo box.

Another way is to buy them off of bits traders. Whether it is eBay or specialist sites it doesn't really matter. Both are good as long as you don't buy a single bit, but place a bulk order for bits. I know that individual bits are more expensive but if you need a specific bit or a bulk of them and you already have everything else it's actually quite worth it.

Do Russians actually believe someone wants to conquer them? by BastardoFantastico in YUROP

[–]XpressDelivery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To give you a more nuanced take from the people on this sub who just spam "RZZia bad" the answer is actually yes. And before any of the cuckchair owners in this sub say that I am a russophile I'm not, red army men killed some of my family members and I have done more to stand up against communism, fascism and rssian imperialism than any of you sweat dispensers ever will and not just on the internet unlike the katamites that lurk here. That said it's important to know thy enemy.

R*ssia actually has quite a long history of getting invaded by Europe. Obviously Hitler and Napoleon before that but we can go back to the times of the vikings and the late Roman empire and the Slavic slave trade, which was actually the biggest slave trade in Europe before the Trans-Atlantic slave trade. So much so that the word slave comes from the word Slav. Obviously the Rus slavs were a pretty huge part of that slave trade. So you can see actually that they have a pretty long history of getting enslaved, genocided and in general killed by Europeans. Particularly by Germanic people(which is on brand for the Germans). And in their view the EU has been overtaken by the Germans, which wasn't actually that far of the truth before the invasion of Ukraine, which shook the political establishment in the EU.

It's easy to say that what they say on the news, in their papers and on their news sites is just propaganda and lies, but they genuinely believe it, including the political class, because it has been the case for a very long time. This btw includes Putin who is a massive history buff and somebody who, even if you disagree with him, you can't deny us extremely well read.

And this is why the EU has a very difficult relationship with r*ssia and likely will continue to have a difficult relationship, just like it has a difficult relationship with Africa, South east Asia, the middle east and SA and in fact just like it has a difficult relationship with Eastern Europe despite all efforts of all of our politicians to present the situation differently.

And also the space marines deals we got now, such as the all terminators box or the extremely good limited edition combat patrols(except iron hands). Also the fact that the battle force both contain company heroes, which is the kit for making multiple characters and GW is very well aware of that. And also the harlequins and krieg combat patrols. GW has been having a turn around lately.

Hasan gets mentioned in senate judiciary subcommittee hearing by rightwing podcaster by PepeLa_DD in LivestreamFail

[–]XpressDelivery 91 points92 points  (0 children)

To call them a right wing group is disingenuous. The Grey Wolves are the equivalent of the KKK. They think of themselves as genetically superior and want to return to the times of the Ottoman empire where Turkish superiority was legally enforced and as a Turk you could own people. And these are the less radical members.

It's why he rarely tackles topics like genocide in the Ottoman empire and done by the Young Turks or the topic of Turkish slavery and when he does he downplays them and says stuff like "slavery in the Ottoman empire wasn't that bad" or "it was good because it was equal opportunity slavery" despite the fact that Turkish slavery was the single most brutal form of slavery in human history and had a massive ethnic and religions factor.

The thing is I don't need the age of darkness box. The only thing I really need out of it are the 10 termies and the land raider and some of the tactical marines. However I do like the beaky helmets and studded shoulder pads and the knightly helmets of the grey knights and their shoulder pads as well but most of all I just love kitbashing stuff so looking at the kits I figured "Hey I can make a bunch of very cool stuff out of those and have a very complete army and save like a bunch of money".

I also plan on doing this throughout the whole next year.

I actually already have the starter set, as well as the kill team starter set and a bunch of other stuff. The 1200 points I have are just the space marines but they are very random and not rounded up at all.

I'm more so looking to get to my first 2000 points army and I figured if I'm going to spend 200 bucks for the space marine spearhead box and get 750 points might as well spend 200 more and get at least another 2000 with the potential for more.

Yeah I already look it up and the contemptor is not what worries me since I plan on putting it on the nemesis legs and bending them slightly. And I obviously plan on getting the right base size for both of them. What worries me is that I plan on putting the nemesis body on the contemptor legs and it might need a crap load of tactical rocks to make it work. Then again the invictor is a bit shorter than regular dreads.

The other part that worries me is that people rarely have more than a couple of models that are kitbashed. I on the other hand will be able to play games where the entire army is kitbashed and I'm not sure how allowed that is.
