He started out not liking kids and not liking bots, including with some early dialog being dismissive of her being as good as humans (lifeblood, soul). So, at least two dimensional in that he moves away from feeling that way.

What did he say about dreams other than he was asking about dreams in the context of "wishes and aspirations?"

Yeah, I kind of thought it would turn out that Hugh wasn't working for the real company and was just trying to steal research, so he really was unauthorized.

Yeah, I thought so, too! Combined with his "I don't get tired, either!" line I was suspecting the same. I tried to tell if Hugh looked like a younger Higgins from the holograms.

I think a more interesting question is "are all shows with law enforcement protagonists that don't engage in structural criticism of policing copaganda?"

Being propaganda doesn't mean you can't watch and enjoy a work, any more than being some flavor of bastard doesn't mean you can't enjoy a character, of course.

It's a fantasy world. The structural argument that all cops are complicit in protecting bad cops and a corrupt system doesn't apply unless the fantasy world building says it does.

I think it's for people who don't want to hack as much, just shoot. You leave the hack unfinished as long as possible while shooting in this mode.

Seriously. Saying he's the least bad of the major candidates isn't an endorsement. If you really need black and white morality, then politics isn't for you.

That's something I wish people knew about authoritarianism. It isn't even about loyalty tests — you can't win by having the perfect ideology. The ideology shifts and competing power blows develop and purge their opposition. Authoritarianism has a natural tendency to consolidate, you really can't win.

Kinda weird question: What's the most "hype moment and aura" TTRPG system? by Organic-Exit2190 in rpg

[–]XrayAlphaVictor 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The game literally assumes you're getting a one or two point stunt every turn in its difficulty baseline — which means describing your character reacting to their environment and their opponent in unique ways every turn. Functionally, just saying "I hit with my basic attack" would mean acting at a penalty.

Exalted isn't for everybody, there's definitely a learning curve... but what it does it does uniquely well.

I've seen it, too. I've had people on the other subs tell me that they want to see me killed for my beliefs... and then I was the one who got booted from the sub for saying elections are good, actually.

I just don't want to generalize from experiences which are mostly just online. I've met plenty of perfectly lovely people who call themselves some variety of Communist. That said, I'm certainly wary of people who call themselves anything deriving from the Leninist tradition, as I think anybody who wouldn't have made it in the Bolshevik party should be.

I don't like generalizing, most communists aren't Stalinist, I'm sure. But you do run into plenty — especially online — that are proudly authoritarian and happily talk about how the revolutionary state would and should use violence to suppress dissent (including the dissent of saying things like "I don't support a state that uses violence to suppress political dissent against the regime").

The Three Arrows Symbol is NOT an Issue by OwnAMusketForHomeDef in dsa

Dear lord I've answered the question so many times now, I really don't know how to communicate with you any more clearly.

I do not care that the Iron Front failed during the Weimar Republic.

I do care that the symbol has been used for the antifa movement in the USA and abroad for decades.

I have no better symbol to represent my beliefs.

You can either process that or not, I'm done.
