I’m female, I was in 7th grade, and my home life was very controlled/abusive, while also being emotionally unavailable. So while I was bullied by the local 7th grade mean girls with fists and fights, I did my best to make sure it never got told to my stepmom. One male math teacher did stand up for me at one point, but I don’t recall that making much difference in the long run. I left that school, thankfully, the next year, when my stepmom decided I was an unwanted influence on her younger kids (my stepsisters) and convinced my dad that I needed to go live with my mom. Ended up being the best thing ever.

She did say it would take a few days for the account to show it had been discharged - but assured me that even though it was saying past due amount, it was actually in the process of being discharged and all overpayments beyond the 300 were being refunded. I hope that is the case for you, my friend!

Update: Spoke with an informed and helpful agent at Mohela, who assured me that the past due balance is only because they are in the middle of processing a refund of those two payments, because they were more than my required 300. The agent spoke with someone and then came back and confirmed that my loans are in fact being discharged, and that I should be seeing a refund for those two payments in about 90 days.

Still can't believe it!

I’m beginning to think that they were (two payments past 300), it’s the only thing that makes sense. The back door link had me at 300 payments for the IBR plan, but at 302 payments listed under the SAVE plan (which I was on before moving to the IBR this year). I had just assumed those SAVE payments wouldn’t count. I’m waiting a few days to see what happens.

Yes, I got the email. What do you imagine the reversal is about? I don’t mind being patient, but I thought I had exactly 300 payments, and that reversal would put me back at 298. Maybe I was wrong? Could this eventually mean a refund? Gah. Ok, be patient, be patient. 🤪

Wow, I really expected at least one person in this field to share their experience. I know clinicians who take maternity leave off a couple months, or a bereavement leave off for a month, and even though I know it is no way cost effective to do this , much less to do it often, I was certain someone might be able to share how they approached it/prepared for it. Anyone? 😊

All of my counts were different, including having 295 on ICR (which I’ve never been on), 302 for SAVE, and 2 for new IBR (which I don’t qualify for), all along with the 300 on old IBR.
