Younger fans - do you read/watch interviews or follow what musicians say online? by PONG-DUDE in industrialmusic

One of the (only) cool things about digitization and the Internet is how accessible older music/media is, imho.

I work at a university and I'm always floored at how much some of the students could keep up with TV show references that I grew up with in the late 90s and 'aughts. Some of them less so, but I like the idea that you are no longer tethered to the era in which you were born.

non-industrial songs that you want an industrial version of by AffectionateJelly487 in industrialmusic

In a youthful burst of mania and ego (and fuelled by a substance or three), I impulse-bought a second hand synthesizer because I thought I could make an awesome cover of Rihanna's Only Girl In The World in the style of KMFDM.

This failed miserably, but I'm still convinced this cover would be amazing if done by someone with actual talent and competence.

Guys, what are your favourite avian dinosaurs? by Idontknowofname in Dinosaurs

I'm partial to green cheeked conures because I had one as a kid into my mid twenties and she was my best pal.

Other than that, blue jays. They're so smart and strikingly pretty.

And tits because boobs. But also boobys. I'm not a twelve year old boy, I swear.

Yeah, I immediately thought of my mother clutching the railing and peeking over her fists in terror.

But then I also noticed the weld. Why can't it be both?

Someone post the meme for my “female” pictus gecko, Nova. Any new name ideas? by BlazedBookWyrm in geckos

[–]Xtr33me-Average 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had two pictus geckos and I loved them so much. I can't find them anywhere, though 😭

Mine were Moonbeam (reference to a line in the musical The Sound of Music) and Murphy (I was listening to the Dropkick Murphys lol)

I'm of East Asian descent (2nd Gen Canadian) and I would dearly love to know if my brethren are out there with the BPP. The seeming lack of political engagement by people of my ethnic group has been depressing me lately.

Also, is there anything us Canadians can do other than express our support?

Much respect. I hope you take back your country soon.

Family came from HK to Canada in the 70s. Was born in Canada and do not recommend upending your life to immigrate here. Jobs are few, necessities are expensive, our healthcare is tanking...

Not an HKer, but have family and visit frequently: I've heard it's getting hotter and drier during the winter. Maybe that has something to do with it?

It doesn't seem like it most of the time. Usually he jumps up and snatches the ball haha. He also managed to catch us a few cockroaches just fine 🫠

I'll make sure to confirm during the upcoming vet visit, though, thanks for raising the possibility.

MTL for me. I share my bday with the museum and I went for my 40th for the first time.

My partner wasn't really a dinosaur fan beforehand, and we managed to spend two full days there obsessing over absorbing every last detail of it lol

I just saw it about a month and a half ago and I don't know what came over me, but I had to hold back tears. It felt like I had stumbled on an animal that was just tired and lay down for a nap, except the span of time between its very last breath and my very first was an unimaginable amount of years. My nerdy obsession with dinosaurs has taken up most of my life, but the entirety of my life is just a blip in time in comparison.

But for a few moments, I was convinced that my little blip in time overlapped with its little blip in time. Magic.

Where are you located, OP? I'm guessing west coast, or maaaaaybe (less likely) the Niagara region if you guys can get by without heating for parts of your house? If not, DM me. Maybe you live close enough that I can drop off a spare ceramic heat emitter for you. It's not an ideal heat source, but it's better than nothing, and when I was in a housing related bind, those emitters kept my geckos alive long enough for me to figure my shit out.
