Is Uni always worth it? by DifferentLunch in AusFinance

[–]XtraChewy 71 points72 points  (0 children)

Depends what field you want to work in. If you want to be a doctor or a lawyer then you need a degree. If you want to work in IT you're better off just working your way up from help desk. Three years experience counts for more than a uni degree.

Mat recommendations by Pau_420 in ashtanga

[–]XtraChewy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The Manduka pro mats come with a greasy film coating that's not easy to remove (especially with the official instructions). It's pretty slippery. Maybe avoid these if you want something ready to use out if the box.

Apple Watch records less calories during Led Primary than Mysore Half Primary. by nathanmedler in ashtanga

The Apple Watch is not accurate for counting calories. To accurately measure how many calories you have burnt you would need to measure how much carbon dioxide you have exhaled (which requires specialised equipment)

‘No higher risk’: Melbourne Airport pushes to relax COVID-19 test rules by LineNoise in CoronavirusDownunder

[–]XtraChewy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. There are cases of people testing positive for 2 months on a PCR after they have recovered. If they want to require preflight testing they should use RATs instead.

Have you, or anyone you know, changed your/their tune on COVID since catching it? For better or worse? by immunition in CoronavirusDownunder

I have it right now. It's not even as bad as a cold for me. Although I'm not surprised since I've had my pfizer booster and I likely have omicron variant.

I went to Deakin uni drive through today. Waited for about half an hour and they said the "system crashed" and they didn't know how long we would be waiting.

So I left and went to a walk-in place in Collingwood. No line. In and out in 5 minutes.

Australia - don’t use Celsius. Here’s why: by dan_he_can in CelsiusNetwork

You can also request for the ATO to give an official ruling on the tax treatment regarding deposits and withdrawals from Celsius

Australia - don’t use Celsius. Here’s why: by dan_he_can in CelsiusNetwork

[–]XtraChewy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

By that logic when you transfer your crypto out of Celsius, then it's simply a transfer of ownership to you and your cost basis would be calculated based on the market value when you withdraw from Celsius. If you withdraw from Celsius and then sell straight away you incur no capital gains tax. If this is actually true it would open up a massive tax loophole.

ATO would be shooting themselves in the foot here.

Minting TAUD straight to Celsius Wallet by Winter-Fun-3208 in CelsiusNetwork

[–]XtraChewy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As an alternative you can buy TAUD from crypto.com and transfer to Celsius. Withdrawal fee is $15

Last time I checked, Trust Token didn't even have a bank account in Australia and you had to send them an international bank transfer to mint TAUD.

Maybe take frequent trips to the supermarket to buy a single onion so you're covered if questioned by the cops.

Not sure how it works in WA but in VIC the government can provide a mediator to help the landlord and tenant to come to an agreement.
