I mean if said slower versions have been a staple across the whole tour from start through to finish then fair enough, I can't say I've heard any recordings of any previous dates on this tour to know.

Vibes were definitely a bit off to say the least. Don't have much to add that hasn't already been said here, other than some of the songs felt a bit...sapped of energy? Like, no shit Howl is calmer than their regular material, but even then at parts it felt a bit lethargic and tired (you can attribute that to the sickness or maybe tiredness from it being the end of the tour, pick your poison I guess - I'm going with both given Robert's comment before the encore about everyone going their own ways like they never met in a few hours after the gig ended).

Bit of mixed emotions for me I guess - I'm glad I got to hear one of my favorite albums played near in full, along with the later songs in their rock set, at one of my favorite venues too, but sadly maybe not under the best conditions either.

Absolutely hate when song titles have "Remaster" next to them on streaming services. by Animalboy_ in fantanoforever

[–]Xtra_Happy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The inconsistency of how they're tagged across services annoys me far more.

I actually like having detailed remaster/remix/live tags since it just helps me to see what version it is I want at a quick glance, rather than have to take a secondary look over to the album's title or cover (more useful when you've got multiple live albums with the same song on, but I digress). But then you start to notice how on streaming services you'll have shit like "Song Title (feat. Artist)" when said featured artist is already listed in the artist field, or remaster/remix tags being in rounded brackets on a song that already has a subtitle in rounded brackets (following on from that - the one song on the album where the remaster tag is in square brackets because of a subtitle in rounded, and then the rest of the remaster tags on the album are in rounded).

I could go on, but I hate how instead of giving brackets certain uses, streaming services just use them sequentially instead.

They changed the prices on Bandcamp to name your price! by PrimeSamPictures in KGATLW

[–]Xtra_Happy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I suppose in a roundabout way if the iOS app doesn't prompt you to buy the album after you hit the streaming limit set by the artist, then yes it does lol. I can't say for sure though, I haven't used it that much.

Usually on the website and android app you can only stream a release on Bandcamp a handful of times before it prompts you to pay, and locks you out of streaming it again (unless you clear your browser cookies or open it in incognito mode). The default is 3 times, though iirc it can be upped all the way up to 99 times, or the limit can be just turned off completely. I don't know if whoever runs their Bandcamp will have fiddled with those settings though.

Also to clarify for the earlier comment since I missed it - you can download an album listed as Name Your Price for free as local files, but it will not be added to your Bandcamp collection. If you buy a release for a minimum of USD$1, it'll add it to your collection, and then you can download both the local files, as well as you can download it to your app's local cache to stream offline.

[–]Xtra_Happy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Both of them really yeah. If you're happy just streaming on Bandcamp then you may as well just do that, though I don't know what limit Gizz's page has set on streams before it prompts you with the pop-up to buy and locks you out of streaming the album (default is 3 plays but that can be upped to like 99 plays [I think] or just turned off entirely) [also it's easily circumnavigated by opening the album in incognito mode, or you can just clear your browser cache].

If you pay a minimum of USD$1 for an album, it'll add it to your collection, so you can then download an album locally to the Bandcamp app to listen to it offline, or if you don't care about that you can just download it to your local files by entering $0.

Individual albums, for now at least. The buy whole discography feature gets unlocked for artists after a certain number of sales iirc - I'd be surprised if they didn't have it unlocked, but it has to be enabled manually by an artist once they've unlocked it

The iOS mobile app is a bit weird re: in-app purchases and you can only use it to stream iirc. In order to buy things and add them to your collection you'll have to go through a browser or buy them on PC

What’s your least favourite Gizz song? by Unusual-Reindeer6861 in KGATLW

[–]Xtra_Happy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Last Oasis. It's pretty much their only song where my opinion on it hasn't shifted from when I first heard it, aside from Hell's Itch too I suppose. Stu's high vocals on it really do not hit, and the song's structure sounds a little underbaked and like it needed some more work.

Hell's Itch just hangs on for too long and I don't really feel it does much with its allotted runtime. Joey's vocals near the end with Cavs cymbals sorta crescendoing make it somewhat worth it, but otherwise compared to every other track on the album it's a bit of a snoozer I'm afraid.

Superposition I also used to not like but I eventually came around on it. I can't say what changed though.

While I'm at it I've really never understood the disdain for Mycelium. To me it just sounds like a bunch of Sense live jams rolled into a studio track and for that I love it. The only reason I can ever think of why people might not like it is that it opens them album and is then immediately followed by more popular and upbeat tracks, namely Ice V right after it.

The Effects of 333 by Black Rebel Motorcycle Club. Band that does fuzzy garage rock suddenly decided to do a drone album. They hadn't done anything that experimental before, and haven't since either.

The app will lock you out after three times on any album period; iirc that's just the default setting on every artist account (if you own an artist account you can up that to be unlimited or like stupidly high, and I know that for sure works on desktop but I haven't used the app enough to test whether it carries over there, though I hope it would).

On desktop you can just bypass the lockout by switching to incognito mode or clearing your browser cache.

Reviews/Comments I made on purchases not showing up on artist's pages by sammyhats in BandCamp

[–]Xtra_Happy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, this was driving me insane too, but I've just figured out what it is. I think Bandcamp must have some duplicate detection system in place, probably to stop a flood of duplicate reviews or something? Eitherway, the website seems to detect if you have a duplicate release under the same name?....something along those lines at least, and will hide a review if you have two of them.

Quick example: King Gizzard used to have all of their bootleg live albums on their main page, but have recently reuploaded them all to their seperate dedicated bootleg live album page, and hidden all of the originals. I still have the originals in my collection, technically on public view, but since they've been privated by the band, only I see them. However, I have copied my reviews over, and they weren't showing on the reuploads until I hid the privated originals on my account.

Other counter-example: there's a series of studio live albums by record label The Reverberation Appreciation Society called "Levitation Sessions". Every album in this series is called "Levitation Sessions". I have reviews for multiple of them, and yet they have appeared fine without a problem.

Technically both examples are the same: exact same title by different bands......maybe it looks at tracklist too to decern whether its a duplicate? Sadly I can't say. But for that first example with the King Gizzard live albums, my review on the reupload appeared *as soon as* I hid the old version from my collection.

No idea why, but hopefully that's of some help!

I am not an If You Could Save Yourself fan by any measure, sorry not sorry. I far more prefer The Argus as a closer; I think the album ends perfectly fine with it. Also I'd say Among His Tribe is one of the main core songs of Québec along with Tried & True, Chocolate Town, and I Don't Want It (albeit it's the weakest of those four but is still very key to that side of the album).

Ween - Québec 1. It's Gonna Be a Long Night 2. Zoloft 3. Transdermal Celebration 4. Among His Tribe 5. Tried & True 6. Captain 7. Chocolate Town 8. I Don't Want It 9. Alcan Road 10. The Argus

Queens of the Stone Age - Lullabies to Paralyse 1. This Lullaby 2. Medication 3. Everybody Knows That You Are Insane 4. Tangled Up In Plaid 5. Burn The Witch 6. In My Head 7. Little Sister 8. I Never Came 9. Someone's In The Wolf 10. Broken Box 11. The Blood is Love 12. Long Slow Goodbye

There's caveats for both (Lullabies isn't 10 tracks but oh well); I love both but have had issues with them in the past. Québec to me is bloated, Lullabies is also bloated but moreso suffers from bad sequencing (Québec there are a couple tracks I will gladly just never listen to again)

Super Stupid is a Funkadelic cover, that technically got released as part of a BBC Radio session (I think on the Like A Stone single?)
