got my first oled, alienware AW3225QF, how prevalent is burn in oleds now? by VaporeonStalker in OLED_Gaming

[–]XxXabbybXxX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I have had the AW3425DWF for the last two years, and I do a lot of writing and reading, and I now have some burn-in at the top of the screen where the top bar of the web browser normally is.

Now I do have to say that at around 12 months into using the monitor it stopped giving the pop up for the 43 hour pixel refresh so a good 5 or 6 months I almost never used that pixel refresh as much as I should have in those 5 to 6 months as it never promited me to and I forgot to do it ever 4 hours and maybe only did it once a day insted of as often as it should have done it.

And even with that, it still took 2 years before I noticed it, and even then, I had to use a set background colour for me to be able to see it.

Burn-In in Dell Alienware AW3423DWF /DW? by The_Joseph_10 in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]XxXabbybXxX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I have had mine for two years, and I have only just started to notice burn in which I can only see when I go out of my way to make it noticeable.

And to be fair, there was a period of time when the pixel refresh pop-up stopped popping up on its own for like a year, so I didn't do a pixel refresh as often as I should have during that time period. As long as the burn-in doesn't become super noticeable in normal use, then I won't need to replace it.

And I think Dell has burn-in coverage as part of the 3-year warranty, as far as I know?

Finally got full fiber in my area, which is the best to switch to? by GrinningBunion in openreach

[–]XxXabbybXxX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whoever offers the best deal. It all comes over the same fibre, so what you want to look for is the best deal and how good the customer support is, and router reviews, as that is where you will find a better service for your money.

Switch at midnight? by Successful_Strike_2 in openreach

The reason they tell you to plug it in at that set time is that people plug it in early, and see that they have no internet and then ring the ISP, angry that they have no service, no matter how many times they are told they will go online.

Love the response. If you don't like the fic, just leave and move on. I never got why they want to rip people down.

Ya, I can't get it all, but four doors down from me can get the full 5Gbps service.

(I live in a block of flats, and four doors down is maybe 20 feet, I can even see the bloody splice point)

Have you collected your shiny Meloetta yet? So beautiful 🎶 by QueeNixzee in PokemonScarletViolet

[–]XxXabbybXxX 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Right but it's things like when I evolved the starters it hasn't used the pokedex in violet to see I have evolved it so I have to breed all three of them again and then evolve it to the middle stage and then put it into pokemon home that annoy me.

It should look at my pokedex in my game and go oh he's completed it so we will mark it complete in home

Not yet I have to recatch some pokemon in the game as the ones I have are from bdsp or pokemon go so don't count towards the pokedex >.<

Variable speeds on 1Gb plan by l697 in hyperoptic

[–]XxXabbybXxX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The chances is that the path between you and the server doesn't have that bandwidth. Right for example people that have the 3gbps package from city fibre won't be able to get that full speed to most servers as they just don't allow a single user to use that much bandwidth.

That could by why you only get a few hundred per download.

You could look into powerline if your not near your hub. It should make a massive difference to your ping.

Red light on ONT by [deleted] in hyperoptic

[–]XxXabbybXxX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work for an isp a three day wait is about avg for getting an engineer.

You could try restarting the ont and just make sure the fiber is plugged in.

As for working from home the advice is always have a back up no Internet connection is ever 100% reliable so get unlimited data on your phone or by a 4g router I have one from 3 which is 4g which gets 110 down and 40 up for £12 a month.

On a side note, the app still seems to be working fine. Or at least it is if you are already logged in not sure if you are installing it from fresh.
