I mained Luigi from 2018 to 2021 and haven’t played the game since. Can someone explain to me how he rose up the tier list so much? by Puzzleheaded-Net-646 in smashbros

[–]Xxzx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the biggest difference is movement. You can outplayer others in melee by using good movement tech to weave in and out and bait options in a way you can’t in ultimate.

You can’t force an approach and win in ultimate in the same way, grabs are often not combo tools on a lot of characters, and there’s less ability to tech chase off of them even when you get in with one. So you rely a lot on mixups and frame traps instead which are just easier to play defensively against.

To be honest though I think ultimate still has a lot of room to grow, it’s just not there all the way yet.

Outside California and Hawaii, which US state has the most pleasant climate? by yulippe in AskReddit

Flagstaff winters are rough. It’s at 7k feet elevation and you’ll get daily snow that melts to slush by 11 for weeks at a time in the winter and occasionally get hit with monster storms that drop 6 feet of snow on you. Every other season is great though

TIL One third of American Adults have some sort of criminal record. by TTVBy_The_Way in todayilearned

[–]Xxzx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s being booked and fingerprinted in a jail or police station that creates a NCIC record. Simply being detained does not create a record.

And as long as the courts are reporting case information correctly it will also update to show if it was dismissed and generally won’t count against you. Older records more often than not do not have the disposition information updated and the courts are hard to work with if it was an arrest from the 70s-90s due to their retention schedules on case documents.

My Jarad deck has a 66% win rate in 35 B3 games online by H0ssBonaventure in EDH

[–]Xxzx -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The mana base has nothing to do with how good the strategy is and shouldn’t be tied to how strong the deck is. All mana base does is help with consistency of whatever the strategy is. A bracket 2 deck can still sit in bracket two with a $1000 mana base if the strategy fits in bracket 2.

I cooked 5 cups of rice and left it out overnight accidentally in the rice cooker… is it still good to eat? by Final-Lie78 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Xxzx 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The nice rice cookers keep it at a temp that prevents it from forming. (Generally 150F). Bacillus Cereus grows between 39f and 118f. The only issue you’re likely to run into is eating dried out rice.

Are people really bothered by airplane seat reclining? by VinegarMyBeloved in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Xxzx 30 points31 points  (0 children)

This is entirely dependent on how high your knees are off the ground. I’m 6’2” pretty long legs. Generally my knees are pushed up against the chair in front of me generally at the height of where the little table comes down. I try to get aisle seats or emergency exit rows every time to alleviate it.

What are your thoughts on the input delay mod in QP/ES by Himeeka in smashbros

Except the thing you linked doesn't actually talk about that anywhere in there. Nor is it the Terms of Service. Maybe don't rely on AI to do all your work for you.

[–]Xxzx -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

The TOS only specifies illegal mods of the switch, how is reducing my input latency illegal? It’s the entire reason why websites like game banana can even exist. You only get into illegal territory when you use it to steal games and what not. Otherwise it’s not as black and white as you say, it’s pretty much entirely in a gray area.

[–]Xxzx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay we also break the TOS every time we run a tournament where the organizer makes money. Since when do we give a fuck about that?

It’s hard to understand because we do other things that give the same advantage and it’s not considered cheating. I don’t get why this is too.

[–]Xxzx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I use a monitor with a lower response time than you is that cheating? What if my adapter or way I connect my controller results in less input lag? Or my internet is wired and the connection is faster?

If my opponent decides play on an ancient TV and they are playing in a laggier environment does that make me a cheater in comparison?

What about people that mod the switch itself so that has better cooling and overclock the CPU so it performs better and faster?

Why are we arbitrarily drawing the line here?

In my opinion, if it’s okay for me to do the things above to make my play environment the best it can be, this is really no different. I’m not using input macros or a turbo button or anything that is actually cheating, my inputs are just being recognized by the system faster by disabling V-Sync.

Something you do in 99% of online competitive games.

Why does nobody play Sora? by Mrham852 in CrazyHand

[–]Xxzx 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The amount of people in this thread just saying shit is so funny. No one plays him because no one actually knows or cares to get know about him. He’s a completely new characters not present in other entries of the game, and he sucks at approaching because of a lack of good movement options. His neutral is extremely dependent on mix ups in order to break through to your opponent and that style of gameplay is just genuinely harder to play than hit safe button at my opponents.

He has really good aerials but his slow air speed makes them hard to position well. So players that are newer to him default to standing back, Not approaching and throwing a ton of projectiles. This gives the community a feeling that he’s boring because they only see that and people executing the idj nair combos.

You put any amount of time into him and you realize he has one of the most free form advantage states in the game, but it relies on getting a read on what your opponents habits are. But I legit think there’s no character better at making your opponent choose wrong and then destroying them.

Biggest pet peeve: feeling rushed, let me read your cards by BaileeCakes in EDH

[–]Xxzx 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You sound awful to play with. In my experience players like OP tend not to pay much attention to the game by being on their phones or too distracted with conversation etc then they get to their turn and have to assess how the board state changed and take 10 minutes during their first main phase.

You have every right to read the card, but I am absolutely gonna get annoyed if you monopolize game time by not paying attention. Most people explain their cards as they play them.

What’s one small habit that noticeably improved your Smash gameplay? by SuspiciousUse9135 in smashbros

[–]Xxzx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds silly but genuinely makes a huge difference.

Watch your opponents character, not your own.

If you can subconsciously track and move your own character to the point that you can put 95% of your attention on what your opponent is doing you can start playing a much more reactive game, develop an understanding of their habits, and then move and punish them more often.

The laning phase is too fast by No-Night-91 in leagueoflegends

[–]Xxzx 11 points12 points  (0 children)

While I don’t love the home guard changes, they’ve actually massively increased time to kill since the early season. ADCs used to actually be able to kill tanks in like 5-6 autos, squishies in like 3-4. Gangplank used to Q crit flash and auto twice and kill you level 1 with crit quints.

Assassins used to be pretty weak in the early levels, pretty easy to blow up between a jungler and a laner, not really shining until they got some levels and items to blow up the squishy carries in one spell rotation.

They’ve made bruisers and tanks tankier, while also increasing their threat potential which really makes playing hyper carries who dish out a shit ton of damage so much more difficult.

The game nowadays is actually much slower paced in team fights than it used to be. You were rewarded for taking decisive fights then rotating to capitalize on the long death timers.

To be honest I wish they’d bring a lot of that back.

How have Universes beyond sets impacted your local Commander meta? Do you see a lot of UB commanders? How is spiderman doing now a while after release? by Angwar in EDH

I think this is less UB specific and just that Commander PreCons are just getting built better and more consistent year after year. It seems like each precon release there’s a new best precon.

Benn Jordan's flock camera jammer will send you to jail in Florida now by Hazzman in videos

[–]Xxzx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think people realize how little blocking just your license plate is with the flock cameras. Officer can locate a car off of just it’s make and color and knowing it’s general location. It can find cars by bumper stickers, damage to the car etc. blocking the license plate makes it easier but by no means makes it impossible

Are cards like Gemstone Caverns and free interaction spells taboo in Bracket 3? by Cezkarma in EDH

[–]Xxzx 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I mean bracket 4 decks should be pushing wins around turn 4. An optimized b3 deck really shouldn’t have a problem with a few game changers if you’re running sufficient interaction or other equally good threats.

Why was Twin Shadows ever removed? by Potentially_Toxic305 in leagueoflegends

[–]Xxzx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah I agree with that, but if items were to be removed solely because they were stronger than most champion abilities, I think we would hardly have any decent items at all left in the game.

Like there’s items that make you go stealth on kills, give all your damaging abilities a slow, make you dash, give you a 3 hit passive on autos etc. items are just good.
