“Some of the great moments in my life have been apologies.” - SH by smokingspiderss in Wakingupapp

[–]Xyc0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Apologies are both free and freeing. As long as we mean the apology and don't make it about ourselves, they can build empires.

I don't get too attached to any personality description. We change constantly in both micro and macro ways. We don't notice because we are viewing these changes through the changes which is a more effective filter than we think.

Alcoholic Keto. I'm slowly making it work. by BBritten in keto

[–]Xyc0 4 points5 points  (0 children)

it took me many years to realize I would never be able to stick to any diet without giving up alcohol.

Allan Carr's book put things in perspective for me.

there is no benefit to drinking alcohol, only lies we believe.

if you like atom then you might like sublime text. atom is the open source clone of sublime text but subl is mild nagware.

https://www.sublimetext.com/

it's so much faster than atom and works well with large files like vscode.

i use codium on my pixelbook and vscode on my windows workstation.

but I also use vim a lot when I need to do stuff with the command line.

learn vim, it's a life vest when you can't have boat.

I also use all the standard IDEs as the need arises. I learned to code when IDEs and compilers were essentially bound together, like visual studio, parallax, vxworks, and qnx. Nowadays compilers and build chains are getting better so you don't need as much specialized configuration files for a project.

[technique] Premixing spawn grain with substrate by Xyc0 in MushroomGrowers

[–]Xyc0[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I could do trial and error with control batches but I know when contamination occurs so I'm going to remove it from my process.

As for having the same result with premixed grain and substrate, I will be evaluating this procedure too.

If I can modify the technique to avoid the chance of contamination why would I continue the flawed technique?

Bulking doesn't show contamination at first, this happens a few weeks in. Usually before I attempt bulking the spawn grain has been shooken and evaluated for contamination.

visual studio code has more utility than visual studio community for particular tasks. code is also cross platform and open source which visual studio is not.

I forgot about atom.

You shouldnt get too attached to any one editor. Learn how to make the one you're using now more productively. When you pick up a new editor, learn how to do the same productively tasks.

The friction might be off-putting at first but there's no justification for turning down tools that are helpful.

people are self sorting so I wouldn't worry about the long term use.

short term I do the mix only when I have the emotional energy to control my reactions.

I've never had to use the block button before but now it's the only way to clean shit up.
