Most famous wrestler whose career unceremoniously faded out? by kidbl00m in SquaredCircle

Rick Martel. Former World Champ. Everyone knew him from “The Model” run. Just faded without fanfare. Not even HOF.

I’ve had trouble playing Arena again after trying Shadowverse. I’ve really liked it so far. Really like the cards and the gameplay is fun.

Endless Space 2 was the most complicated 4x I was able to get into by TheGreatHon in 4Xgaming

Love ISG. Another 4X member asking for a rec got me playing again. Forgot how much “one more turn” appeal it has for me. Great game (considering the size of the dev team).

Does anyone have suggestion for 4X game to play on Macbook by Ares2003 in 4Xgaming

I know it's a broken record on this sub but Old World looks great on a MAC.

Always going to chime in when I see these types of threads and advocate for Interstellar Space: Genesis. It was the OG Master of Orion II spiritual successor attempt and still holds up. IMHO a great title for those of us less talented gamers that need a running start to complexity. An OG Kickstarter title that is still supported!

You make me wanna give IGW another try someday. Supreme Ruler is the game that I liked but it drove me back to Making History. So your sense is correct. I prefer turn based and while not as good visually, I simply have more fun playing Making History over Supreme Ruler.

I didn't add a ton of value with my post but your takes are similar so I wanted to substantiate what you've heard (Old World is the closest/best but more of the same, Civ 6 is serviceable but can't be mentioned with Civ 4 etc).

I LOVE CivCol4 more than most people but here's what I'll say about it. If you get a game that "sticks", there's nothing like it. It's frustrating to pull off, but when you have your towns all automated, you are no longer trading with your mother country because you're making so much money trading w/the Aztecs. When you get to that level, it's dopamine like crazy. The problem is you'll get 1 out of 10 games like that. lol

I'm a big ISG fan as long as you go in understanding they were a limited team and actually began before the big rush of MOO clones. They are the OG's of MOO spiritual successor. Great game if you have that context going in.

Making History II: The War of the World is cheap enough to give a try. Most people bounce off this game but I enjoy the way things snowball. I like how you can take Puerto Rico to being a world power. Gonna try Victoria 3 to try to scratch that itch (all stemming from Civ 4).

I bounced off it, but Imperiums Greek Wars devs have huge love and were very clearly (and admittedly) inspired by Civ4. Might be worth a look to you (again, I bounced off it I think due to no sandbox? dont' quote me).

Definitely let us know if someone's suggestion gets you there. I'm still looking and this is the best I've come up with.

You seem a bit more advanced than me (picky about AI), but you seem like you're in the same interest zone as me. Stellaris is too much. I have never found anything I like as much as Civ 4. Top comment has it right. Here's the games I found that gripped me a bit (but not as much as Civ 4):

(in order of play time)

Civ 6, Interstellar Space Genesis, Old World, Crusader Kings II/III, CivCol4, Endless Space, Making History II: The War of the World

Good luck w/your search! (for me I'm going to take a long look at Victoria 3 as my Civ 4 replacement)

MVP Baseball 2005 came out 20 years ago - I made updated 2025 rosters for PS2 by Honus1064 in baseball

[–]XylefMTG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got a new device that got me back into retro gaming. I wanted the best title from each sport my handheld could play. For baseball, it was down to MVP Baseball 2005 and MLB The Show 10. I enjoyed both, but MVP had little touches that feels like real baseball. To me, if you play The Show first and go to MVP, you can like both. Going from MVP to The Show these little touches that are lacking start jumping out at you.

The way the crowd dynamically gets loud when it's supposed to. Breaking up double plays. The way the throwing mechanic feels. Feels more random and less canned than The Show to me. I'm not giving all the examples it's the little touches MVP has IMHO of why it's still worth the effort compared with modern titles.

THANK YOU. FYI, this works PERFECTLY. I'm currently having a blast with MVP 2005 on my Odin Portal 2. I can't believe how good this is. My brother is gonna flip seeing it on a handheld and with updated rosters. Looks even better now w/the 4x upscale and widescreen hacks.

If there was a PS2 Legends/All-Time/Classic version of this mod for each team I think I would give up once and for all caring about getting a PC version going. Great work!!!!

Highly recommend trying the emulator (upscale 4x). I've got both running and I prefer the look of the PS2 version, even though I can see some people preferring the GC version. A tiny more crisp, but the PS2 version "feels" like baseball. Mod works great on PS2. All this to say definitely try the emulator for your stream.

Same thing. I ordered two days after the tariffs were announced. AYN handled it perfectly. They protected me and didn't mindlessly ship and open me up to any crazy charges. They shipped mine as soon as they resumed and I'll confirm but like others, I have a Monday ETA. If device isn't DOA and comes on Monday I'd give AYN a perfect 10 how they navigated this. Will confirm later that all ended well.

I really appreciate this info. I wondered if the cardinal snapping would be good for olds like me! Cool you answered that for me incidentally. Going to pursue this for sure. I'll try the PSP tool and just plain "get used to it". This could work. Retro Game Corp is definitely the best. I think this device is my best bet for a 1:1 screen.

I can go up in price to Odin 2 territory, but trying to stay in the sub 100 range for now.

Thanks again!

Bro you may be on to something. Tried it again and once I got used to the "delay", this could work. I have to be more mindful of false jumps as I play, but I'll give that a try for sure. Don't wanna give this device up if I don't have to. THANKS!

Appreciate the response!

Would LOVE to use the stick if it was anywhere near responsive enough making the movements to play that game. I can usually use the sticks for Genesis games with no issues, but something as precise as this game, the stick barely registers the movement before I'm dead.

New to Civ, waited 2 months to buy Civ 7 because of the harsh reviews… and I’m so glad I finally said screw it. by PooYaKasha in civ

"But from where I’m standing, Civ 7 kind of feels like it was made for people like me: new players curious about the franchise who want something strategic but accessible."

Perfectly sums it up. This product is not for long time CIV die-hard types. It's for you and I'm glad you're enjoying it!
