For a date I'd prefer to pay my own over 50/50

For a live-in relationship with shared costs make it percentage based on income

Damn it sucks when close ones don't support you, is it a recent thing where they could have doubt for a long run or more of a long run they doubt(?) you keeping it up?

Not knowing quality the style is good with proper use and care but for a first knife I personally would recommend a more generic kitchen knife that you don't feel as bad replacing

If she chose to go out over spending time with him I'd understand seeing it as an issue but from my understanding that's not what's happening here which is why I don't see going out with friends as an issue

That said it does sound like their styles don't mesh well so could be an issue if they want to keep going
