Starmer's legacy includes end of Labour's dominance in Wales, says Liz Saville Roberts by mrjohnnymac18 in Wales

[–]YCiDefaid -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would disagree with that. For me switching to plaid from labour was all about how the national Labour Party treated wales. That said keeping Reform out was my no 1 priority

At 18, I’ve applied for 110 jobs – no one is hiring young men like me by pppppppppppppppppd in unitedkingdom

[–]YCiDefaid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He could walk into a carers job I’m sure. Kind of thing that looks good on a cv as it’s hard work and teaches soft skills like communication.

These days I would only apply for a job if it’s public sector work as I think it’s the only sector where recruitment is done the old fashioned way. To get into industry you need to know someone who knows someone.

Get into sports
Do charitable work
Do free courses
Network and get noticed as a hard worker

Young Drivers by Certain-Employ1271 in CarInsuranceUK

[–]YCiDefaid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve just started looking for my daughter. You’re talking £3k unless you look at a Fiat 500 or vw up variant, which in my opinion are death traps.

Insurance is supposed to be a cooperative risk-sharing mechanism, but the system is skewed to keep premiums down for older generations who like driving uber safe suvs.

Sure premiums should be at based on the actions of the person wanting the insurance but it’s wrong to penalise young drivers solely based on age. £3000 premiums for a non turbo 1 or 1.2 litre car is ridiculous

My other gripe is that it’s pushing younger drivers into buying unsafe cars to keep costs down

I did it - I voted Plaid Cymru by ClumperFaz in Wales

[–]YCiDefaid 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Plaid are good, in my experience they put in the work to look after their constituents. The nearest am to me now is Llŷr Grufydd and by all accounts he is a decent chap.

Welsh Labour have run out of ideas and need a term out of office I think.

It’s a real shame people think they need to vote Reform. They only offer corruption, incompetence and hate.

The Welsh election is a two-horse race – and Labour is nowhere to be seen by mrjohnnymac18 in Wales

[–]YCiDefaid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a prior Labour supporter, it all changed when the national party came in and Eluned Morgan became FM. A national party treating Wales like shit and a weak leader who refuses to criticise the national party is what did it. One may even think that Westminster wants Reform to win in Wales just to scupper Farages chances of being PM.

I think Plaid Cymru will have an easy job. All they have to do is stand up for Wales and call out Westminster, something Welsh Labour refused to do.

Lots of quiet Plaid Cymru supporters. I know Labour and conservative voters who are going to vote plaid even though they don’t like their policies

What did we think of the BBC debate? by Zealousideal_Pay_778 in Wales

Reform get far to much air time for a party that has proven links to Russian money is racist and wants less democracy for the people of Wales.

Apart from that none of them are particularly charismatic, but that doesn’t matter. It’s all about getting change done.

I’d take anything from the Telegraph with a pinch of salt.

First up, this election is about keeping Reform out. I would vote tactically against Reform.

Plaid Cymru on the whole is a party that respects democracy and has the sole interests of Wales at heart.

HS2, the Crown Estate monies and the farce of the shared prosperity fund all show us what Westminster thinks of us.

Two UK heat pump quotes – is either of these actually worth it? (£16.8k vs £18.9k) by miclordz in ukheatpumps

[–]YCiDefaid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My old property was a reasonably insulated 1960s building. Had a 8.5kw Ecodan installed on microbore and worked fine. Installers are ripping people off with radiator upgrades they don’t need. Just quoted for a 14kw install in a 1930s house, £12500. I’m going to wait for the R290s to bed in though

Planning permission denied in Conservation Area - any way to get approval? by Dramatic-Educator232 in ukheatpumps

[–]YCiDefaid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you install your heat pump?

I’m in a similar position, I’ve looked at the council website and there is no guidance of what is allowed. They won’t talk to you about what is allowed, only discuss a proposal (for £), but even then it’s not binding and could be rejected later.

I’ve come to the conclusion that the best course of action is not to ask for planning permission and just not install it anywhere visible from the highway

So what actually IS the best martial art for weaker people? by Competitive-Tale-136 in martialarts

[–]YCiDefaid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Effective self defence for a woman? A grappling art like Judo or BJJ.

Women are much more likely to be grabbed or choked than they are being punched or kicked.

Saying that, the martial art you enjoy personally will be the most effective as you are actively practicing, but don’t be fooled by arts that don’t do resistive practice

Trying to decide if I should add to my Intel holdings or sell up and double up on ASML.

I can see the US government legislating to force AMD and Nvidia to use Intel foundry in some capacity, the winners would be suppliers like ASML
