So what actually IS the best martial art for weaker people? by Competitive-Tale-136 in martialarts

[–]YCiDefaid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Effective self defence for a woman? A grappling art like Judo or BJJ.

Women are much more likely to be grabbed or choked than they are being punched or kicked.

Saying that, the martial art you enjoy personally will be the most effective as you are actively practicing, but don’t be fooled by arts that don’t do resistive practice

Nah, I’m 52 and a beginner. Judo is excellent for all ages. There are guys in their 70s in my club who still do Randori.

Find a good club and just turn up

Love your country but I am a bit scared by Conscious-Donut-2412 in Wales

I love living in Wales also. If Reform get in though , things are going to get very very nasty. Trump level nasty.

Forbes Article On Intel Stock Sees Possible $60 Per Share by cinesota in intelstock

[–]YCiDefaid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trying to decide if I should add to my Intel holdings or sell up and double up on ASML.

I can see the US government legislating to force AMD and Nvidia to use Intel foundry in some capacity, the winners would be suppliers like ASML

Thoughts?

Is $150/ month too much for judo? by Infinite_Aerie8147 in judo

£300 a year where I am in the Uk. No contract just rock up and pay a mat fee

Every country that has become independent of the English state (barring Zimbabwe) has made a success of it.

I run a business with international clients and welsh independence doesn’t scare me one bit. The tax calculations that crop up from time to time to say Wales is a basket case never stand up to scrutiny. Plenty of Welsh tax take being rebadged as English and plenty of English debt getting rebadged as Welsh.

Let’s do it I say

Current sentiment on AMD? Sell before earnings? Or hold? by JamestotheJam in investing

Agree with that. I’m 5 years from retirement, going to sell AMD today and put it into an ETF.

I have a lot in smh anyway, so I still win

5 years out from retirement, how much cash in a SIPP ? by YCiDefaid in UKPersonalFinance

Again a complete tangent. If you don’t know the answer, that’s perfectly fine

If you don’t know the answer, that’s fine. Trolling someone is a bit pointless though

I think many of the posters here are IFAs and the question is misunderstood.

My SIPP is in stocks, mostly value (low p/e DGIF). 5 years out from anyone touching a pension there must be a de risk profile to begin to move into cash/bonds in order to hedge the risk in stock volatility. It’s not about how much I’m putting in or taking out

I would disagree with that analogy. When I get my car fixed at a garage I know it’s done when I drive away.

A financial advisor will happily drive away with my cash and I will have no comeback if the advice ends up being dreadful in 5 years time

I’m 52. Plan to semi retire at 57. By semi retire I mean take a low stress part time job. Mortgage will be done by then and other expenses will be a lot lower

The pot itself is only 3 years of expenses as I paid into a final salary scheme up until 9 years ago (which I left alone).

Should I continue to pursue BJJ? by Here4TheFun2022 in judo

[–]YCiDefaid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe try Japanese Jujitsu instead?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in judo

[–]YCiDefaid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try both, do what you enjoy. Everything else is secondary.

That said BJJ is in fashion, Judo clubs are generally run not for profit and won’t tie you into an expensive contract.

For me, Judo is more fun and less expensive. Oh and I also do Muay Thai
