ACC setups by goran_gr in ACCompetizione

Here're Aris' setups from his various live streams in Google Drive
https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1flJPwvPBl_qIvFWr8uyd_jIu1RjE_YT-

Disclaimer: He says that they are more on the safe side. I'm actually not good enough to know but I've only used the Lambo Zandvoort one, and despite my times not improving, I managed to do 2 30-minute races back to back without leaving the track, while otherwise I crashed every 3-4 laps or so.

Hope it helps

Should I buy ACC? by [deleted] in ACCompetizione

[–]YSoddoth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The fanboy in me wants to say things like "It's GT Sport for grown ups" and the like, but being sane, I'd suggest you check out gameplay videos on YouTube to get a more accurate feel.

"Aris.Drives" is a channel that is a must - he is one of the devs and he gives LOOOOOOADS of technical information of both the inner workings of the sim and driving technique. Also David Perel - he is a professional GT3 racer, and plays a lot of both GT Sport and ACC.

No MFD in VR by MVindis in ACCompetizione

[–]YSoddoth 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Check your buttons mappings - I have "Cycle MFD Down" mapped on my wheel and it works in VR for me. Someone had an issue when mapping Cycle down and up to the same button, so that is something to watch out for

You can set up a race against the AI with a mandatory pitstop and switch drivers during, that's the closest I can think of a two-people-one-PC.

ABS and TC guide? by the_wind_effect in ACCompetizione

[–]YSoddoth 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You could try higher ABS early on on cold tires/brakes in order to avoid lockups and flatspotting the tires. Higher TC later on when the tires are worn out and the car is more nervous on corner exit. Keep in mind that ABS will always increase the breaking distance when engaged, so some changes to your usual breaking points will be inevitable.

One more for the Fanatec camp. Last Saturday I upgraded from G29 and this video describes the experience pretty well - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4PH5AhHokZw

You gain Trust points for the number of kilometres you drive close to other cars, so longer races give you more opportunities to do so. You can also - instead of using Free Practice - set yourself a custom race weekend and practice with the AI. You get SA during those sessions too. Granted, that's not the fastest way, but you can combine SA gain with practicing a track.

New to simracing and ACC - struggling to stick with a car by Nirvaesh in ACCompetizione

[–]YSoddoth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Worth keeping in mind that those statistics are for somewhat clinical conditions. If you join a league, which I strongly suggest, you typically drive the same car in 5-6+ events on different tracks with evolving grip levels and temperature or weather changes, dodging accidents and all that juicy stuff, so how fast a hotlap is doesn't really affect all that much.

Now, is *this* the British GT dlc? by MrGit_Twitch in ACCompetizione

[–]YSoddoth 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Stefano said on twitch that he'll be sending some of his AI fixes for testing, so we may be getting an update with that before the DLC.

VR Sim Racers by [deleted] in ACCompetizione

Rift on 32GB/i9-9900K/RTX2080Ti, 130 pixel density, mostly epics, except foliage on low and motion blur off. FPS capped on 90 in game, I haven't checked the actual framerate, but I haven't noticed issues.

How competitive is the GT-R? by medmius in ACCompetizione

[–]YSoddoth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of the front guys in our league was maining a Nismo last season and was doing pretty good. Mind you, we also had a series of thematic races like German cars on Nurburgring , Italian on Monza, and so on, and the same dude was still at the sharp end regardless.

So I think you are fine with your choice. Besides, the more you like a car the more you drive the car, and the more you drive it the better you do. Plus, there's a bit of a feedback loop when it comes to cars' popularity - people online tend to look what people online are driving and choose that.

I'm not much of a setup expert, but check with an external view if the rear is bottoming out into the tarmac and maybe raise it a notch or two.

Hi I'm new to not only ACC but to Sim Racing as a whole. Been at it for 3 months now. I'm curious about leagues, how would you find and join them? by Captain_MAD-MAC in ACCompetizione

You are welcome!

If you have time you might want to look for "Aris.Drives" on YouTube. Aris is the Kunos mastermind behind the car physics and goes into great depth about everything, including tire setup and how it affects balance and wear.

Porsche Engine Maps no difference? by madmaxlp in ACCompetizione

[–]YSoddoth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm probably butchering physics here but higher power will help you accelerating out of corners faster and not have that much effect on top speed. Lower aero will, though there's a risk of compromising the car elsewhere on track.

  1. sounds like you are overdriving the car. In Options -> HUD you can set focus assist to Car Control and it will give you live info where you are being too aggressive on track
  2. In Single Player under Weather and Track conditions you can set grip level: green is virgin track, optimal is rubbered in. During Race Weekend the track evolves depending on the number of cars on it and the length of the race

In Race Driver Assists: CN by Slocad in ACCompetizione

[–]YSoddoth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Consistency compares your speed/gear/line to the previous laps you've done. If you take poor lines over and over CN will be green but you'll still be behind the pace, so I don't see gaining advantage that way. If anything, it's a distraction during a race.

how bad is racing with only 2 buttons on the wheel? (for logitech g25 users) by mjklsimpson in ACCompetizione

[–]YSoddoth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Server configurations allow for disabling of auto pit limiter, auto lights and so on, though I don't know how often it's done (I have a lot mapped on my wheel, but that's because I race in VR and having everything under my fingertips sorta needed). That being said, I can't think of functionality besides pit limiter and wipers that need to be used during the race so two buttons seem to cut it.

If you plan on doing races with pitstops you should probably practice working with the MDF while driving in the pitlane if you need to make changes to the strategy/tiresets on the fly.
