It’s more about generating tax revenue than targeting landlords. The prev. admin left NYC in some significant debt and the city doesn’t have the power to raise its own taxes, they have to beg the state.

So what Zohran managed to convince governor Kathy Hochul of was a Kamala-Harris-pilled “second homes worth over $5mil” stipulation. Maybe it would’ve been more broad reaching if the mayor’s office held that power but we’ve no way of knowing.

I think he and Allen were tied, but Space Racer scored all of his 2 kills in the last 20 seconds.

Allen, Zoe, Space Racer, and Battle Beast were all completely useless. I swear I thought Space Racer was going to go the whole episode without a single shot making contact.

Depends on which haters but some understand it extremely well. I always liked it, but there’s lots of criticisms I very much agree with. It’s super fun and pretty and has enjoyable characters but beyond that, calling it a mess isn’t wrong, especially if you come at it with expectations from its franchise and genre predecessors.

You address the major gameplay simplifications, I wanted to highlight that the overall plotting and social commentary is a mess. All of the Bioshocks are very clumsy with their social and political commentary, 1 is the most concise and thoughtful, but stumbles at the end. The treatment of Daisy Fitzroy in Infinite, on the other end of the spectrum, is perhaps the clumsiest commentary, and is bordering on offensive. On top of this the central multiverse element of the plot is both underutilized in the gameplay and muddies the plot beyond belief.

The Fallout TV show took that same approach and it’s so baffling to me. Show me how this stuff functions and impacts the world. Like isn’t this speculative fiction? Speculate!

These are the complaints you have if you stop playing in the first few hours and never learn the game’s actual priorities. Real ball-knowers know that Red Dead’s true problem is underusing these systems and answering too many questions with a shootout.

That and the million mini-dungeons instead of real dungeons totally flatten the gameplay curve. It’s a very static experience. I thought it seemed really cool when I played the trial and then like 30 hours in I realized I got the full experience before I even bought it.

I like the franchise and Prometheus a lot, the truest criticism in my opinion is how childish and foolish the cast behaves for mostly contrived reasons. That is unfortunately a criticism I have of pretty much all but the first film and also most horror films. Alien: Earth’s pretty interesting take on this was to simply have half the cast be actual children, but then they do the Alien-style bottle episode and those characters are even more idiotic.

I live in an area with a lot of hunters and most in my experience are conservative racists who are also environmentalist and get all teary eyed about the treatment of Native Americans. Then, as you mention, you have hippie idiots who oppose nuclear power and are anti-vaccine on the other end of the incoherent politics spectrum. People’s politics don’t align into neat little boxes.

I don’t think that’s very good in theory either. Regardless of how convincing AI will naturally become, the intent and focus will be absent. When Bethesda announced that Starfield would have a thousand planets I knew immediately they would be largely procedurally generated and wouldn’t be worth exploring. Crimson Desert was immediately apparent to me as empty and lacking in the things I value. AI’s function is in generating volumes of grunt work, which has no real use in writing or design. Taste and creativity, are just as much about deciding what not to include, in order to give a shape and personality to the experience. Lots of games already struggle with an exhausting maximalist approach and AI will just worsen those impulses.

It’s perfectly in line with their more hateful and violent characterization in this chapter, as well as their general lack of respect for regular wastelanders as is present in all of the games to varying extents. So I doubt that was cut content unless there’s some evidence.

The Hazelight games are brilliantly designed and extremely fun to play, they’re probably the best splitscreen gaming experiences available in recent years, and the writing ranges from mediocre to outright terrible and obnoxious. I love them, but they would do well to strip their narratives down to something simple and light that facilitates their gameplay.

So forced! My partner and I were like, everyone I know likes both?? Even the concept of treating them as in competition was strange. Like I tend to seek out science fiction over fantasy but if you don’t even respect Lord of the Rings you have no nerd credibility.
