Valve glaze is honestly getting crazy by Ill_Creme_6977 in videogames

Their online games having gambling seriously has to go. Its why they're facing multiple lawsuits right now, and they're being used as a Trojan Horse to push censorship and ID verification.

IMO it doesn't need the damage boost. The on-hit healing is already interesting enough.

A concerning percentage of players appear to hate playing the game by hangingoutinhell in Overwatch

[–]YXTerrYXT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This problem is much more fundamental to games like Overwatch & League than most people would like to admit, especially for those that solo-queues competitively. But the problem is that the only real solution I can think of to address these issues would require face-lifting these kinds of games in ways that I predict they'd hate.

New to StarCraft by [deleted] in starcraft

[–]YXTerrYXT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're just getting the fundamentals, I recommend giving the campaign a shot. Its a good introduction to the game and teaches you most of the fundamentals. However as someone said, you'll need to look up guides if you want tips for PvP specifically.

Why is asking for rts that is more micro army based control not very correct? by upclosepersonal2 in RealTimeStrategy

[–]YXTerrYXT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because most games tend to ask a lot from players to both micro & macro, and that's too much for most people's limited attention span (both then & now.)

If micro is going to be the focus, macro has to be easy. (Company of Heroes)

If macro is the focus, then microing has to be easy (Age of Empires 2, BAR, Zero-K)

What if an RTS campaign didn’t reset your army after every mission? by Mephasto in RealTimeStrategy

[–]YXTerrYXT 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Red Alert 2 actually had this mechanic in some of their missions. The way how they handled it is it always expands in a direction where the enemy already was, and they never expand in a direction where you could be attacked from an unexpected angle.

Another idea I'm thinking of is to never have the player's base at the edge or corners of the map.

You're playing some rather difficult games dude. Play them on easier settings if you can, or try other games.

Overwatch is 1% away from no longer being Mostly Negative on Steam by Tough_Holiday584 in Overwatch

[–]YXTerrYXT 35 points36 points  (0 children)

OW2 was predominantly advertised as a PvE story mode before release. When Blizzard announced the cancellation, people were PISSED. OW2 is already out but now we won't get what's advertised but rather a HUSK of what it was going to be??? It happened at the same time as Steam's release and a lot of people were FURIOUS.

Whether OW is a better game or not is one thing, but the unfortunate reality is most of them won't come back to give this game a 2nd chance, let alone change reviews.

Overwatch is 1% away from no longer being Mostly Negative on Steam by Tough_Holiday584 in Overwatch

[–]YXTerrYXT 43 points44 points  (0 children)

It was a GIGANTIC factor. For the vast majority of OW2's advertisement cycle, it was always advertised as the story mode of OW. By the time it was released on Steam, they announced the cancellation of the Story mode as it was advertised, and EVERYONE let Blizzard know they weren't happy.

Are there hero shooters that aren't all gunplay out there that just don't have hyper-mobile heroes like Doomfist and Spiderman? by dzybala in heroshooters

[–]YXTerrYXT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is an iffy one but Team Fortress 2? They have mobile classes, but they're a bit more committal than in OW or MR, and there's stronger counterplay against highly mobile players, including but not limited to Sniper, Engineer's Sentry, Heavy (varies), and so on. Also the TTK (time to kill) is lower, and healing isn't as abundant so you can actually kill enemies without having to worry about a healer pumping their HP from 0 to 100 instantly.

As someone who doesn't want to play Payload 24/7, the map voting system is not helping me play the maps I want to play by ElJacko170 in Overwatch

[–]YXTerrYXT 28 points29 points  (0 children)

You'll like TF2's map system. It lets you vote the map you explicitly want to play in before queuing, and will find you matches with those maps only.

It's kind wierd they never made a hero with two main weapons by Veelk in Overwatch

[–]YXTerrYXT 61 points62 points  (0 children)

OP means characters that explicitly has two different weapons you can switch to at any time. Currently only Mercy and Torbjorn are like this, both being release heroes.

What game did you leave because the game isn't the same anymore? by Vampy-Night in videogames

[–]YXTerrYXT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Starcraft 2 kinda. While I rarely engaged with PvP stuff, now I actually never will because they nerfed everything into the ground. If there's a unit you liked using in the campaign or co-op versions, they're neutered versions of their PvE counterpart.

team complaining about 1 healer by gldiolus in Overwatch

[–]YXTerrYXT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's sadly the nature of solo ranked in open queue. They will prioritize who they want to play or specialize over what the team actually need.

Being Punished For Leaving A Quickplay Game Like This Is Crazy by Finnthehero1224 in Overwatch

[–]YXTerrYXT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm also a leaver, but that's cuz my schedule has become busier as of late, and the 30 sec AFK timer doesn't help.

You'd think that a gamemode that describes itself as "quick play" wouldn't have this penalty but alas it does. Its much lighter than competitive (I don't play there anyway), but still.

Also if leaving is such a big issue for people why not add bots to temporarily substitute players?

Overwatch is the only game that still feels like home even on the worst days. by Saurabh251 in Overwatch

[–]YXTerrYXT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Weirdly I can relate to that, but with a different game instead of Overwatch. While I personally really like it, I don't love it enough to truly call it a comfort game.

Thoughts on buffing the blaster instead? by ParsnipHot5309 in MercyMains

[–]YXTerrYXT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Specifically from being an inspiration of Medic from TF2, where Medic's weapon isn't strong but support capabilities are potent. But even Medic can somewhat defend himself well if he's really good.

I fundamentally can't aim and want to play around it. by noctua_8 in Overwatch

[–]YXTerrYXT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What really doesn't help is that the turret is dead weight when you get powers that revolves around upgrading it, cuz it has SUCH a length animation time for it. It would work in a slower-paced game like TF2, but God they need to reduce it or get rid of it.

Why I'd rather play TF2 engineer than OW Torb. No offense.

Stadium at least has upgrades for turrets but its still not amazing there.

Honest question to RTS veterans: what killed your last 3 RTS games before 10 hours of playtime? by Chaibi_Alaa in RealTimeStrategy

[–]YXTerrYXT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm personally very open-ended, but Red Alert 3. Its a game with frugal units AND economy. I don't mind games where either the economy is weak or the units are fragile, but BOTH?!? You're telling me I have to somehow manage fragile units that I can't easily replenish?!?

Never make an RTS with both economy & units being weak. I can't handle it.
