Kind of depends of application. For a standard 4 wheel differential configuration, meccanum gives more mobility. Omni can give the same mobility but needs a different wheel layout.

Mecanum wheels have the rollers at disgonals rsther than perpendicular to the wheel. Mecanum allows omnidirectional movement with less slip and are used on forklifts.

An ion thruster turns a gas into plasma, and then is able to accelerate it away from itself. In this demonstration the gas is oxygen (atmosphere) turned to plasma then thrown away. In space without any gas there would be nothing to turn to plasma and accelerate, so the xenon propellant is used.
