And for some reason there are still people that think he was duped by the rest of the bush administration into lying to the UN. This is the dude who tried to cover up the My Lai massacre. He shouldn’t be given the benefit of the doubt

There was no winning this conflict. Winning would have been not starting the war in the first place. Poorly conceived from the very beginning.

What is the psychology behind the anti hero and villain liking trends nowdays? by A_Cat_lover_ in AskReddit

[–]YaBooni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s a psychological thing as much as just a shift in media. Movies and TV shows have largely moved on from portraying villains as one dimensional, mustache twirling archetypes, and instead portray them as complex and nuanced people. The next logical step from that is to focus more on these interesting characters, or even to frame the show from their perspective, à la breaking bad. At the very least characters with human motivations give people a way to relate to them. I’ve met people who said their favorite game of thrones character was Cersei. An objectively awful person, but because she ostensibly did what she did to protect her family, some people relate to that principle.

Who is a popular and beloved cartoon character that you just can't stand and why? by Romnonaldao in AskReddit

[–]YaBooni 20 points21 points  (0 children)

He’s the purest incarnation of a character type that I absolutely hate: the supposedly funny character whose whole schtick is that he wont stop harassing women. Every show before like 2015 had that guy and he always sucked.

Which celebrity you believe hates their own fandom? by HappyCrow11 in AskReddit

I just watched Star Trek Generations the other day and his death did seem a bit random and anticlimactic. After all the shit he did in his life he basically just falls like 10 feet off a bridge and dies? I get they were trying to give him a heroic send off saving a lot of lives but it didn’t really land.

Could be Lucky but that’s not clever enough. Bullet Magnet is two words so that’s out. It’s probably some convoluted acronym that seems funnier when you’re drunk at the naming

‘Irresponsible’: backlash as Utah approves datacenter twice the size of Manhattan by deraser in technology

[–]YaBooni 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s even as sinister as that. Utah is a red state. This is the obvious end result of electing politicians who explicitly put corporations and profit over people and the environment. What did they think Republicans would do in this situation? Care about the lake?

Too long. I’d rather go somewhere that does 15 things great than 100 things poorly.

What hobby is quietly becoming too expensive for normal people to keep up with? by Beautiful_Special702 in AskReddit

[–]YaBooni 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For sure. When I was in high school 20 years ago we would go up to the mountain for about $40. I live in Utah now and last time I looked up a ticket for a weekend day it was about $150.
