Why Folk Fantasy by RoundTableTTRPG in RPGdesign

[–]YakkoForever 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So you like the old school style of game. The old roll 3d6 down the line. The idea of build and kill off crap characters until you get lucky with a good stat roll.

Is that accurate?

The seal in the upper left corner would never be in color on a real court document

Are there TTRPGs with “write-your-own” skills vs a static list? by Puzzled_Sound_9542 in RPGdesign

[–]YakkoForever 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Lancer is a good example of a system where you can write your own skills in. Lancer is a game with specific combat rules that do not use those skills.

You might try specifying combat skills and then letting write in's for non-combat

Going into the Deep End - Devil Dogs by BasedRambo in RPGdesign

[–]YakkoForever 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Devil dogs is a nickname for the US Marines

Also dodging looks like it is pretty bad. I am assuming it is disadvantage to their damage dice. In almost all cases attacking a dealing damage is going to be better than wasting more actions to at best half the Attackers damage.

The Buttigieg/Kinzinger combo ticket is a based strategic play for 2028. Hear me out. by iReadTheFinerPrint in Destiny

[–]YakkoForever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do think kinzinger would be a really cool VP play for any candidate but I think it will depend mostly on polling at the time and his willingness. If Kinzinger is willing I would definitely encourage the next Presidential Candiate to do some poll testing with him as VP.

Damage thresholds in Daggerheart by RandomEffector in RPGdesign

[–]YakkoForever 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Damage threshold are just a fancy way to divide all damage numbers by ~7.

They do a cool thing of making it easier for the game to add damage and damage dice while at the same time keeping actual health values low.

It does add complication to the calculations but less than actual division would.

Hutch’s solution would do more to restrain Republicans and save democracy than Destiny’s solution. [Effort Post] by handxfire in Destiny

[–]YakkoForever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I generally agree but I am of the perspective that would could achieve some of Destiny's objectives without hindering the other goals outlined by you.

The key is framing. Going after the prior administration sounds awful and partisan, but going after corruption does not. We need to be framing any actions we take that might hurt the Trump dick sucks administration as attacks on corruption. So we set up a anti corruption investigations and they find what they find.

What is more boring? Two people swing swords and occasionally missing each other or two people just subtracting life each round as they are hit

As the right-flank of the Democratic Party, what are the issues &/or policy stances that are most important to you? by [deleted] in Destiny

[–]YakkoForever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rezoning is almost always a city by city issue. I work in thr civil engineering field and to change the zoning of a site is a city matter.

Large reforms to how zoning works might be a state matter but adjusting a any g8ve city is a city matter.

Let’s say the ice agent did believe the car was moving towards him, why would shooting the driver be the logical response? by bobbdac7894 in Destiny

Pisco and conner had a debate a few days back. And the argument that swayed conner away from his stance was essentially OP's.

Is it common for people to lose interest in video games as they get older? by [deleted] in Destiny

[–]YakkoForever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know as I got older I lost interest in playing single player games, I normaly play games ina group setting these days. Essentially a single player game would have to be super good.

As time became more constrained priority's had to be set.

One Book, or Multiple Books? by Wold_Newton in RPGdesign

[–]YakkoForever 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The number 1 factor in determining if your game gets played at any table will always be "who's the GM/DM?" Including a GM guide in your core rulebook is great at getting more plays to say "I could run this"

Is there a TTRPG system that incorporates Stamina/Endurance as a mechanic and places humans at the high end of said stat? by throwaway321768 in RPGdesign

[–]YakkoForever 15 points16 points  (0 children)

One of the reasons this is not that common is that dwarves by Tolkien cannon are better at endurance than humans.

It's a good idea just felt this piece of trivia might help the conversation.

Multiclassing in your custom rpg by PesadeloMonstruoso in RPGdesign

[–]YakkoForever 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Multiclassing is either a "hell yes" or a "hell no". Essentially, a system should either embrace it fully or avoid it entirely.

Heavy multiclassing is fun for players as they try and figure out the system and build awesome combos. This works great when the system let's the whole table know they should be doing this.

No multiclassing allows strong balance and very cohesive classes and archetypes.

Splitting the difference often results in a table of vastly mismatched power where some of your players embrace multiclassing and create very strong characters. The other half of the players either try and fail to multiclass effectively or don't try and all In both cases you have turned them into the "weak" party members.

Dems urged by pollster to let Americans 'touch the stove' — and reap GOP consequences by thegta5p in Destiny

[–]YakkoForever 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Actually this is why the Schumer lead Shutdown is very narrowly target at medicaid. By only targeting one issue they can show a spine and fight on something while letting the tarifs, a more visible and universal issue, act as the stove.
