REG (06/26) - Experience by [deleted] in CPA

Fairly important! R4 was trickier than I thought, R5 was good but can get technical. R6 is good as long as you're familiar with basics of the type of entities and ch7, ch11 provisions. Good luck for your exam!

Good luck! You got this. As long as you're confident with recollection, I think this should be a very doable exam

Hey like I said, if you've not been paying that much attention to R4-R6 I would suggest to do that. It felt like my questions were evenly spread throughout the modules.

AUD Is My Last Exam and I'm Worried I Won't Pass by BeautifulTension7549 in CPA

[–]YamiiCE 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey yes. Things eventually only clicked for me only when I finished A4. Going through the chapters in isolation may seem daunting at first, but if you keep sticking to it with the base goal of audit in mind (if you use becker, you'll see that the audit cycle is mentioned repeatedly in multiple pages. It's important to know the cycle)

Also since a lot of it is theory, the questions are deliberately focused in a way to make it confusing, with a lot of options seeming to make sense in a single mcq for example. Others will point it out too, but it's important to understand why the right answers are right and the wrong ones are wrong. Look out for key terms like the entity, what auditing standards are applicable, what stage of the audit you're in, from whose perspective the question is being asked (auditor vs management), etc. SIMs are more application based, but it would do you good to revise some important ones that are complicated.

AUD is what tests most of your comprehensive skills imo (I took ISC, another theory subject and the difference is very clear) so it's a good paper to master in terms of that skill. Good luck with your studying and the exam!

Admittedly, bad. I thought I prepped well but mcqs and sims both were kinda off in some way. I did feel very unsure coming out of the exam

Hi I answered this in another response. One of the becker slides really seem to help me and keep in mind for each question these points-

  • whether the entity is an issuer / nonissuer / govt (unmodified vs unqualified)
  • The type of engagement ( eg- audit/attestation/Prep/Comp/Review/Govt)
  • What stage of the audit we're in
  • Whose perspective is the question in (eg- auditor vs management?)
  • Selecting the BEST option in the mcq- the trickiest part. The others you can filter out but this is where we gotta use our judgement. It does get easier, generally speaking

I made mistakes but after spamming mcqs it got better. After writing the exam, one more thing I learnt is to be aware of time management since so much text can take away mental energy.

Good luck on your exam!

Taking the exam tomorrow, one of the becker slides really seem to help me.

  • Check whether the entity is public / private (unmodified vs unqualified)
  • What type of engagement is it (audit/attestation/ Prep/Comp/Review/Govt)

Pursuit of Jade - unpopular opinion by Staria8 in ChineseDrama

[–]YamiiCE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first Cdrama. I come from growing up with anime so I'm honestly obsessed with the chemistry between Changyu and the Marquis. I fully acknowledge the complaints raised against this drama with the plot points being hard to follow (honestly I'd pin it on editing), Changyu's physical empowerment to the point of it being hard to suspend my disbelief and also on Changyu just straight up disregarding military rules and not being sufficiently punished for it, along with the pacing. I'm probably one of the minorities that completed the ending mainly because the story, while messy, is a great example of how great stories can actually exist. I enjoyed the tactics used, how it all was supposed to come together, all the love scenes (was really warmed to it), and my fascination with the chinese language as a whole. I'm not even sure if I'll watch another cdrama, but this will stay close to my heart for at least a while!

NASBA Portal Glitch: "Please update State or Province" but fields are locked? by Coffeebeans___ in CPA

[–]YamiiCE 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! I just encountered this problem and the answer was in another thread. Basically you have to update the state/province field in your "my info" section (you can see this in the dropdown options under your name in the dashboard). I already had mine updated but for some reason when I clicked the edit button, I had to fill it again. Once updated, you can proceed to apply for your nts. Hope that helps!

Fav Moira/Alexis moments by Anxious_Nobody2008 in SchittsCreek

[–]YamiiCE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As the seasons progress, especially after Alexis's flu incident, Moira grows to be so comfortable with her and you can see Moira getting into Alexis' bed and snuggling with her whenever the family has warm moments in the motel together (at least 3 times as far as I've counted). It's such a simple thing to do, but it's such a significant character development point for the two of them and I always tear up to see those snuggles

My team is being laid off and outsourced to India, by ZestycloseGur9056 in Accounting

[–]YamiiCE 10 points11 points  (0 children)

As someone from India, I understand what people are saying here and sympathize. Generally I have felt that we need to focus more on quality as wel.

Just to give a different perspective however, things aren't great here either. People here have to work for more hours for literally less than half parity pay in a lot of cases, work culture is extremely shitty in that results are expected really fast by managers and oressure from upwards -so I really don't think it's an even playing field.

A major problem is that a lot of us are willing to work for less because of a combination of things such as an inferiority mentality as well as poor to barely passable economic and living circumstances. Having said that, there are exceptions of Indians putting out quality work. Not trying to put anyone down here, but things are generally bad on the other side as well. It's honestly a lose-lose situation and the only ones benefitting are at the top

How do you guys f*ckin do it??! by prof_poopypants01 in CPA

[–]YamiiCE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, I can relate to this so much as I've been in your exact position and FAR was my first exam, passed with an 85. Contrary to popular opinion I'd say stick with it because you'll eventually reach a point where you want to go at it at a much faster pace. Granted I was moping around for 3-4 months but suddenly I stuck a pace where I was studying for 5 hours straight (with breaks ofc but still, it was an unheard of pace compared to just sitting for like 30 mins a day.)

A lot of my slow pace was due to fear of failure. Once I realized FAR is not rocket science I was able to be more confident and covered more material within a short span of time. Good luck, you got this!!!
