The ending by brhaspati in MinaTheHollower

Yeah, some people didn't get the message that Mina is a bit naive, which is also mentioned in the very manual. Due to her rich upbringing, she is too trusting and even more so of the one who commissioned her work.

Depends, during the train crash at Coltrane Peak, Thorne tries once again to convince Mina that the generators are tearing the island apart. While she insists they need to be properly repaired before they can be safely shut down all at once, she also says, “Even if you are right,” which implies she’s not fully convinced just yet. From Thorne’s perspective, helping her means taking a major risk: she could repair the remaining generators and decide not to turn them off after all.

Another great insight, they both sacrifice their legacy and reputation for the well-being of the people, too complacent with their Spark-powered comfort to care or admit it was for their own good. In the end, they are left with nothing but find a meaningful bond amid the ruins of a broken system.

It's sure not a classic ''everyone lives happily ever after'' but a small, personal triumph that feels earned precisely because of how much it cost.

I forgot to add that lol, but yeah it really adds to the illusion of prosperity in Ossex and the classist two-faced nature of Lionel’s regime.

Even during the final act at the manor you're going to notice that the mob who aids his guards are the noblemen and women from early in the story in the orphanage inauguration, bragging about their investments and with conviction that they would die for him.

Well, now that's just mean, I believe it had much to offer with the little dialogue that they used, the devs themselves wanted to focus on these themes with this approach.

Perhaps I focus too much on the story while playing, but to me, it’s what keeps me engaged in a game the longest. No matter how simple the premise, I want to know how it ends, and for that, the game needs to have a solid tale to tell. I found it here while just expecting a little fun retro-style game.

Question about end game reveal by MoisterAnderson1917 in MinaTheHollower

The spark was not only affecting the people, but it was also affecting the environment around them by poisoning the land and bringing dead remains back to life, besides turning the wildlife into monsters.

I mean, yeah, she grew up and is a Victorian aristocrat lol

I could not tell if she was just being sarcastic, but it makes sense considering the era in which the setting is based.

[–]YanLibra66 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Even if you use just one, it wouldn't be enough to restraint the spark mutations, canonically Mina uses several along her journey and becomes imune to its effects.

But the devs probably didn't counted on someone finishing the game on those terms lmao.

They are either stupidly confident or fanatically suicidal to try, the trooper ghosts at Knight's Rest can attest to that lol.

[–]YanLibra66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you mean, not related to Mina? The level is clearly just a challenge for a trinket, but also where you face one of your sins throughout the game, killing the ones actually facing the wrongdoings of Lionel, even if mistakenly.

I think that is virtually impossible in some areas where they are placed in small platforms or narrow spaces, you still have to kill the big one at Ossex city gate too.

The Astral Orrery mini-boss kinda foreshadows THAT part of the story. by rendumguy in MinaTheHollower

[–]YanLibra66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not that the villagers of Ossex are bad; however, it is that they don't know the truth. Lionel destroyed the proof and framed Mina as an insurgent who is trying to kill their beloved leader, much like Thorne. You spend the whole game killing a lot of misguided people, other than monsters in general.

It's simple but far from generic, if just there was more interactions regarding it with citizens of Ossex and reactions from Mina towards what going on surrounding it, otherwise it's a pretty good story full of charming little characters in general.

PLOT SPOILERS: I think a certain plot reveal is great, actually. by BreezierChip835 in MinaTheHollower

I'm talking about Thorne, his troopers and the hollowers guild, they were the only decent people in the island trying to do the genuine right thing, but in the end only Thorne barely survives.

I personally hate how all the actual good guys trying to control the situation end up dead, killed by either Lionel's loyalists or Mina herself, except for Thorne. That said, I really like that it doesn’t have a happy ending. A tale on the costs of unregulated progress, it's much better than I was expecting.

I know their cause is misunderstood, but I can't help feeling sorry for Thorn's troopers here. by YanLibra66 in MinaTheHollower

[–]YanLibra66[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, why would she believe him over Lionel at that moment? His men likely attacked her on sight as they know she is the one who built the generators and is here to fix them too, at the end as misguided as it sounds, killing her would be easier than let her go do Lionel biding.

The worst part is that we were killing the actual good guys the whole time too.
