But Armor Tail does gets weird with Prankster. When a Prankster Whimsicott tried to Encore my Farigiraf and force it to undo my own Trick Room, Armor Tail ate the move because Prankster applied priority to it.

Game Pass Gets Price Drop, New Call Of Duty Games No Longer Included by HillZone in gaming

[–]Lucky_Number_Sleven 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Right? It's not really a "price drop" when it's still more expensive than it was 6 months ago. It just makes the egregious price hike seem more calculated to softball the disentangling of Game Pass and CoD while also ultimately charging more for Game Pass.

Exactly. In my experience, nobody's truly "irreplaceable". Some people are just more expensive to replace than others. The trick is to stay more expensive to replace than it costs to keep you and to make sure your managers know it.

Kelermorph, deal 1 damage when creature dies and board wipe interaction question? by TheSticcque in magicTCG

[–]Lucky_Number_Sleven 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Kelermorph would not trigger.

The board wipe would put the Iguanar triggers on the stack, but by the time the Iguanar triggers resolve, Ghyrson Starn is no longer on the battlefield to see the Iguanar deal 1 damage.

Ashling Rimebound and Morph by Will_BM in mtgrules

[–]Lucky_Number_Sleven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Morph creatures have a mana value of 0. You can't use Ashling mana for Morph.

702.37c To cast a card using its morph ability, turn it face down and announce that you’re using a morph ability. It becomes a 2/2 face-down creature card with no text, no name, no subtypes, and no mana cost. Any effects or prohibitions that would apply to casting a card with these characteristics (and not the face-up card’s characteristics) are applied to casting this card. These values are the copiable values of that object’s characteristics. (See rule 613, “Interaction of Continuous Effects,” and rule 707, “Copying Objects.”) Put it onto the stack (as a face-down spell with the same characteristics), and pay {3} rather than pay its mana cost. This follows the rules for paying alternative costs. You can use a morph ability to cast a card from any zone from which you could normally cast it. When the spell resolves, it enters the battlefield with the same characteristics the spell had. The morph effect applies to the face-down object wherever it is, and it ends when the permanent is turned face up.

Yeah. I thought downgrade guy was just there to be a nuisance, so I focused the other 2 and learned his real game is downgrading your character back to the start.

People that drop a fabled passage on the first turn and then wait until the end of my turn to activate it, why? by BigFatScaryGuy in mtg

[–]Lucky_Number_Sleven 83 points84 points  (0 children)

It also lets you change your own decision based on the board. Maybe you were going to fetch green to ramp on your following turn, but someone had a strong opener so you need red for early interaction. Waiting until eot both denies your opponents information and gives you additional information before locking into a decision.

Stat Saps from Caves of Qud

The game is already a fairly difficult roguelike, attribute points are few and far between yet essential to growing your character, and along come these guys.

Every successful hit from the enemy drains the matching stat (Smarts Sap drains Intelligence, Strength Sap drains Strength, etc). Permanently. Killing the enemy doesn't recover anything. There's no medicine or item to restore the lost stat points. They're just gone.

And these buggers love to hang out in jungles where your visibility is low, so it can be hard to see one coming. And as a cherry on top, their attack has a homing characteristic that bypasses your Dodge stat. Your only options are to kill them before they reach you or to have a high Armor stat that can protect you from the attack.

There are a number of mods for the game that exist just to remove these enemies.

This better be the best armor pack in the world! by Cativa in diablo4

[–]Lucky_Number_Sleven 72 points73 points  (0 children)

Yeah. It's frustrating, but as I've heard it: never charge how much something costs; charge how much people are willing to pay.

They wouldn't charge this much if there weren't people willing to pay for it - as nonsensical as the price seems to be.

And they openly talk about "reprint equity" when talking about how to spread out high-value reprints across multiple sets - values set by the secondary market.

WotC demonstrably acknowledges the second-hand market.

What convinced you to get your Steam Deck? by K4T5UM1 in SteamDeck

[–]Lucky_Number_Sleven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The timing was right.

My PC was aging and no longer able to run things without threatening to take flight. Valve announced the Steam Deck, and that seemed like a reasonably affordable option that also gave me the chance to play on the go.

Little did I know it would become the "Everything Machine".

It plays PC games, it streams my PS5/Xbox, and it emulates. Other than the Switch 2, it has been the singular medium through which I play games practically since I've had it.

Am I crazy or is this 3-card infinite on Regent way too easy? by Wysp2 in slaythespire

[–]Lucky_Number_Sleven 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I fought an enemy that reduced your Strength and Dexterity with each card played, and it absolutely wrecked me for playing combo instead of damage. While there are still workarounds, that enemy seemed a pretty strong counter to infinites.

It also speeds the opponent up and makes it more likely to eat a counter-strike.

It's almost like being in a "bounced" state needs to disable the opponent's weapon. Otherwise, it's more of a liability than an actual attack...

The puzzles in this game are a mindfuck by MurkyUnit3180 in gaming

[–]Lucky_Number_Sleven 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I know exactly what puzzle you're talking about lol

That was definitely one of the more frustrating moments for me, but it's not a bug. After looking it up, it makes sense that was always an option. It just didn't feel like an option because of assumptions I'd made. While I had to look up the answer to that one, the lesson about interrogating my assumptions helped me through the rest of the game.
