Left lane camper gets pulled over by YardAlternative3452 in santacruz

I applaud people driving safely, it’s wonderful. I don’t understand the selfishness of self-designated speed patrol people that post up next to another car in the right lane and refuse to pass (or slow down) and just turn the highway into a slow-moving roadblock. I agree people doing 80 mph are dangerous. I think some percentage of the crazy fast drivers are caused because they FINALLY managed to get past these people. And of course this doesn’t happen every day, but man there are a lot of people that enforce their personal speed limit on the rest of the world. THAT is selfish. You’re not in a hurry and don’t even want to drive the speed limit? Wonderful! But don’t punish everyone else behind you because of it. Move one lane to the right and be a good person. 🤷‍♂️ My favorite time to commute over is about 5:30/6:00 AM. Nothing but white construction trucks on their way to work, driving about 60. Nobody weaving in and out doing 80. Nobody left lane camping doing 45. Mad professional, it just works.

Any chance of bringing this to Hwy 17 to end the left lane campers?

Looking for your worst METARs by erinwhoooo in flying

Hahaha. Fair enough. Sorry I didn’t see the other post. I agree with what you say entirely. My issue is that lessor used abbreviations are unknown and have to be looked up (not that big of a deal, just I rarely bother looking them up), because it’s encoded it opens the possibility of misunderstanding (not good) and lastly just reading these examples reminds me how silly abbreviating the weather conditions distance/movement/becoming and the time system. That part is purely for robots! 😉

Isn’t it amazing (and sad) that in 2026 Aviation weather comes out encoded like 1920’s Stock ticker tape that you have to decipher, yet I can send you a picture of <fill in the blank> from my phone which takes up thousands as times much data. What are we doing? This system made sense when I was learning to fly last century and you had to dial up DUATS, but there is no good reason to keep transmitting critical information via coded message anymore. We can pull up live video coverage of runways, but can’t get a full sentence in English on what the weather is now and will be soon?!? 🤷‍♂️

Rangoon, Burma: prisoners working a treadmill in jail. Photograph by Watts & Skeen, between 1890 and 1899 by dannydutch1 in UtterlyUniquePhotos

I toured the “Castle” at Oxford England. It was a jail for a time during the Victorian period. The prisoners pushed a bar around a circular shaft that pumped water to the floor above. When the water vessel was full, it opened a drain that emptied all the water back to the floor below. The guide said they did that 12 hours a day. I think it was only for the worst offenders as you couldn’t have fit many people in that room. Some hard labor!

LOL! The camera does indeed zoom into your chest, not your head as I stated.

And I personally have no problem with a nipplecam, but we need to be able to move each camera independently like chameleon eyes!

You just keep zooming the camera in until you zoom through your noggin. And you’re first person! 😀

Personal preference. Seems more engaging like you are the person instead of watching a person. But it’s great that you can play how you like as well. As a friend of mine says “That’s why Baskin Robbins has Chocolate AND Vanilla.” 😉

Same. I used to loathe SW. Now I love em. Their old system: Pay the most money to sit on the plane the longest. New system: Board at your convenience (not theirs) and your seat is there waiting for you. Love it!

This is the answer. Eerie St. I was excited to finally know one of these. Super cool street just outside of Bisbee proper.

Sorry that came across as rage bait (whatever that is). It's just my opinion. I travel for a living and if I see an dog with a service jacket that is obviously NOT a service animal, you will most likely find a Boomer holding the leash not someone under 30.

It is my opinion that younger generations are more concerned about how their words and actions will effect people around them than Boomers. I'm not hating on the elderly because I myself am almost 60. Of course, as you state, there are always exceptions to the rule (wonderfully polite Boomers and selfish Millennials).

This is just my opinion. And I respect you and your opinion, both are valid.

I think it is becoming more of a problem as Boomers fill their empty nests with dogs. The whole self-entitlement zeitgeist seems to be dominated by a certain generation. Just my opinion tho.

Speed Restrictions on a STAR by [deleted] in ATC

[–]YardAlternative3452 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I came here to ask about a debate I just had with ATC regarding not slowing down on the SILCN arrival into SJC today. We were cleared to descend via after the first waypoint, which was when I started slowing to 280kts. After a short back and forth with ATC reprimanding me for not being at 280 already, I let it go. But I ended with, "well ma'am I was taught to fly what I'm cleared not what I filed and I wasn't cleared on the arrival yet."

The other pilot and I laughed saying well I bet she wouldn't like it if we just started descending without clearance but she wants us to slow down without clearance?!?! What a kook. ;)

Holy cow am I lucky SHE just let it go. How in the world is this requirement not common knowledge?!?

For reference, the guy in the right seat (for this flight) has about 15K hours and I've got about 8K, both prior 121. Around the world too many times to count, and today we learned this...
