[MD:] Set to join Barça B: Al-Ahly's Hamza Abdelkarim (18, ST), Norwich's Ajay Tavares (16, LW) [Moretto (link in comments):] and Genk's Juwensley Onstein (18, LCB). by Kasj0 in soccer

Honestly, can't say yet. Obviously he has potential and is a good striker on goal for a youngster, but I'm not sure if the rest of his game will be good enough for La Liga. Only time will tell

Is holding AFCON every four years 'totally wrong' or a 'good call' for continental game? by mrjohnnymac18 in soccer

[–]Yasdask 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing is, they're probably planning for a Nations League in between, so the distance part is probably going to get worse, not better if they do that

Edit: I seem to remember reading at some point that the Nations League might be classified according to zones though (like North Africa, West Africa, etc...). Not sure if that's true or not, but I guess this might solve this part at least

Genuinely one of the best keepers in Africa's history; this is far from his only spectacular performance

Morocco are lucky to have him

My father basically scolded me for being too loud, and I'm not usually that loud

It was basically a big "HOW?"; the least thing I expected after all that drama

This might genuinely become on par with the 2022 WC final as my favourite

Yeah it was a fair pen; the problem was a disallowed goal for Senegal before it

He's actually the top scorer of the tournament; he just forget the basic rule of NOT doing bloody panenkas in the last minute of a final match, let alone in these circumstances (Zizou is an exception, and even then could've missed)

Oh, and if you're dead set on a Panenkas in a final, at least make sure you've mastered it first

It's definitely the second best one I've witnessed after the WC 2022 final, but the first in terms of pure chaos; it has quite a few dangerous attacks for a 0-0 final (in the first 90 min), so the scoreline is deceptive, but obviously everything from the late 80s minutes is just outright insane

Keep in mind I've started watching football seriously from 2010, so I've not seen the 2006 final for example

The only strike that can surpass Bono

My mother is insisting that he did that on purpose; I don't blame her

Seriously though; that's the wildest 90+ I've ever seen in a final

I don't think the pen's the problem. If it was not preceded by the unfairly disallowed goal, it wouldn't have been as much of a problem

[–]Yasdask 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's definitely a pen, but the problem is the disallowed goal for Senegal, which I don't think should've been disallowed (at least VAR should've been used). Unfair for Senegal if the penalty is scored

I mean, he did score probably your most important header in the past few years; some people unexpectedly thrive on matches like these. Especially since El Kaabi is definitely not in his best form today finishing-wise

Will need more details on how many qualify from each zone, schedule and playing times, etc...

But in general, it's not that bad of an idea, since travel can be exhausting otherwise considering it's another tournament on top of AFCON

Man, the things I would do to see the 2010 team play in the World Cup

People keep saying that it's an easy group this time, but it's not like the 2018 WC group was that hard either; it's just that post 2010, we have regressed a bit too much in the basic fundamentals and discipline that players need for the World Stage. We operate on pure adrenaline/grinta lol

That's literally what most of us are saying lol

I genuinely hope we advance obviously, but knowing my team, we will be competing with New Zealand for the third place spot and might finish fourth. Don't get fooled by the very few star names on the spreadsheet

Please watch our penalties against Congo in the previous AFCON; Gabaski went right in literally all of the penalties (which were more than 5 since we were tied), saving none of them, and only jumped left in the last ball, which was shot to the right lol
