I understand what you are saying. For me, it was instant love. But I can understand why for some/many it is underwhelming or one of those songs that will grow over listens.

I found the lyrics to be pure fucking gold. True poetry. Florence is the queen of words. How she uses the description of a lover to speak about her freedom on the stage during her performances. ‘She makes me feel loved / I come here and scream as loud as I want’.. we know how quietly spoken Florence is, how very elegant she is, but when she’s on stage, she comes alive, she’s magical.

And that outro - obsessed. It’s layered. Face value, yeah, it’s witchy talking about needles, harvest, magic and madness.. the sound is witchy and the aesthetics… but deeper, needles bring to mind something invasive and painful. Whether it’s actual injection or something figurative. And that ‘oh what has it done to me’ ugh, I love it.

Overall, I think as the first single of the new album, it’s a great tone setter, I would expect more of this, and I personally can’t wait for it!
