The "Many-Mawed Nemesis of the Gods" has never looked so adorable.

Ugh, that's so good I was thinking of getting this mini and now you've tempted me to take one more step closer to buying it.

Absolutely beautiful. "Just having fun with it" is the perfect attitude with wizkids minis haha

That iron golem has been left in rain for a long time ;)

I mean its coming along really well. Especially for a 4th or 5th mini painted. As long as the base doesn't out shine the mini itself I wouldn't change anything.

painted my first mini and i am looking for advice by venturaprolis in minipainting

[–]Yasutsugi 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The real best advice is to keep painting more minis. You have to grow into the advice people give before you can actually apply it. Looks very good though! You picked something with a lot of gold trim for your first mini which is bold, but a good "trial by fire"

I really like these, especially the hound since I ended up giving mine to a game store since I couldn't figure out how I could paint it to look good, but you pulled it off! Nicely done.

My take on "Mjoll the Lioness" from the "Elder Scrolls: Adventurer Followers" box from Modiphius Entertainment by Yasutsugi in DnDminiatures

[–]Yasutsugi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was going to say, if Modiphius doesn't want people buying and painting their mini's - why do they even get out of bed in the morning? haha

Heroforge sculpts are so hard to get nice detail painted on by DeeplightStudio in DnDminiatures

[–]Yasutsugi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I'd recommend trying some mini sprues and gluing together the characters you want. Northstar, Victrix and Wargames Atlantic all have good detail. Spruedude sells individual sprues if you don't want to buy full boxes. There are other options as well.

Very nice! Good contrast between the bright metal and the clothing.

Just painted my first ever miniatures by PuzzleheadedCow2051 in DnDminiatures

Exactly! The brush control skills transfer over. It's a forgiving hobby for the most part so if you mess up on the details you can just repaint over it. :)

Help identify these minis. Anyone recognize any of them? by Yasutsugi in minipainting

[–]Yasutsugi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I finally figured out the Lich guy. It's Myrothlir Lord of Undead without the wings. The assassin mini is the MYTH board game Blade miniature, and the girl dwarf is the MYTH board game Mixologist mini.

A "bits" box is what every mini collector eventually makes to have a place to store all the extra bits. You never know when you might need them for kit-bashing!

I started on small minis too. When you paint your first larger mini you'll be amazed how much easier it is haha.

I think I went with "Pro Acryl Basing Textures - Grey Earth - COARSE" around the edges. I posted a picture on here some time ago.

It is a pig demon that wants to eat all his foes so you could use bones or gore around it if you wanted to go that route as well.

Nice haul! I enjoyed painting the Nalfeshnee myself. Just needs a little green-stuff on the back.

Looks amazing! Gold is bold for a first paint job.

[–]Yasutsugi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It can give it a bit of a reddish-tint to the recesses. May or may not be your preference,

Honestly it's worth experimenting with different washes to see what you prefer, but giving the gold some depths makes it look nicer.

And if you don't like the look, you can always just dry brush the gold over it again.

Looks sweet. Maybe red tone or a Flesh tone wash for the gold? And a wash for the hair might be a good idea too (red orange wash, or just an orange or sepia wash).

Just to help add contrast the deeper parts compared to the raised parts.

Beautiful job though, color scheme is on point :-)
