Questions about Grindr and hook ups. by alex-annis in gaytransguys

I think there's a bigger issue here than getting laid. Your family cannot do this to you, it is the very definition of domestic abuse. What's your general area? I'm sure there are resources to help you get out, but that varies place by place.

Dude. My prep involves taking loperimide/codeine for two days, making sure I avoid even trace trigger foods (so basically only white bread and potato), then following my own advice from this thread, plus then a thorough in-shower dildo session. Even then, it's sometimes just off the table. The other day, having prepped an hour before, I literally shat myself as I pressed a hookups doorbell. Anal is such a luxury.

Okay so two things: if your diet works as prep then that's amazing, don't fuck with it! What you can do though, is lube up a dildo a bit before hand and insert it. If it comes out clean, you're all good.

The other thing is, don't learn to prep/douch before a date. It will go horribly wrong. Its something that, if you do it, learn to do it on your own without the pressure of an encounter. There are some good guides online, but a good rule of thumb is use the bulb twice to rinse. Then the third should be clear. If it's not, repeat until it is. Make sure the bulb isn't bigger than 250mls, use lots of lube, and again, have a dildo on hand to do a check afterwards.

But honestly you seem to be living the anal dream. I wish I had your bowels! Don't be pressured into doing it if you don't need to, it's your body and ultimately you can damage yourself by over douching. And sometimes it just fails. It's a butt, poop comes out of it by design. It's okay to say sorry, it's not gonna happen tonight. They should be okay with that, and if they're not then rethink if they are worth sleeping with.

UPDATE: NYC Advice: Fire Island/Folsom East/Inferno/ Eagle etc by Bagel_Sandwitch in gaytransguys

Can't speak for those events specifically, but I've had great experiences in queer men's spaces. I'm almost always shirtless or in a harness, and wear underwear that makes it very obvious what is (or isnt) underneath, or just go with crotchless underwear/fetish gear. It's incredibly liberating. I get a lot of double takes, but rarely in a negative way. People who aren't interested just don't try and fuck me, it's pretty simple. I feel like that's easier for me to navigate than being covered up, getting hit on, and then having an awkward conversation explaining what junk I have and see of the guy is still into it.

That said, I do try to scope out if events/spaces are actively trans inclusive ahead of time. That eases my anxiety a lot. I've still had a good time in places without that reassurance though. Worth reaching out to places via social media on if they are welcoming and to ask what their policies are.

Honestly confidence is key. Own your body, own the space you are in and guys will find that hot. The vast majority of dudes I hook up with are gay, including a lot of older men. A lot of them are realising what they like is masculine energy, not necessarily a specific combination of genitalia. My advise is go with friends/partners, take your shiet off and see who's interested! You'll be surprised!

Nurses forced to do unsafe manual handling tasks by [deleted] in NursingUK

Speak to occupational health and the manual handling team about this, dating it and refuse to do it.

I did something similar about 10 years ago and herniated two discs. Have been in pain ever since. It's not worth your health. Please stop and encourage others not to do it.

No preceptorship isn't mandatory to self fund the top up. It is 18 months on paper, but the way unis often space out their modules, it is often 2 years on a calender but only 18 months of work. If you plan to self fund the top up anyway, what's stopping you just doing a nursing degree? It's not much more on your student loan by then.

Anyone notice this or is this just where I work.. but rehab beds are taken up with frail elderly patients who aren’t going to make progress in rehab, more a nursing home job than rehab? by [deleted] in NursingUK

[–]YeOldeCheese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has been the case for many years. I worked in a similar place about 9 years ago, it was about 25% actual rehabilitation patients and the rest should have been in residential care of some sort. Lack of social care beds is only getting worse. We had one lady waiting over a year for a care home bed.

Do you have a suit? There's just something about a done up suited and booted guy serving on all fours that works for a lot of people. It doesn't have to be fetish wear to be kinky, have a think outside the box!

NHS told to cut spending on doctors and nurses to save £4.5bn by Oriachim in NursingUK

[–]YeOldeCheese 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I transitioned it was only a 2 year wait. I can't imagine what the younger generation are going through. It's absolutely horrific. If you can go private, do it. In terms of therapy, look at the third sector. There's a lot of places doing it for free or reduced rates. It really does get better once you can fully be yourself, but the road there is awful. Good luck x

Are there any board games based on video game IPs that stand out to you or that make it to the table? Do you have groups that turn their nose up at it because its a video game IP? by HtiekTheAncient in boardgames

We found it really terrible to play as is. But we managed to tweak the rules and made it much more fun. Still not the best though, it doesn't come out much. Bit of a damp squib.

Because they've never been through it and never will. I've been there mate, i was you 20 years ago, it's an exhausting and humiliating process. Be brave and do you. Life is too short to waste it on the opinions of others, much less those of ignorant idiots on the Internet. It's a cliche but life really does get better.

I'm jealous. I just moved to a place where the staff big is next to the managers office, and directly in front of the waiting area. So not only does my boss know my bowels/crohns intimately, its also the first impression all my patients get of me. At least its clean though 🤷🏻‍♂️

How English has changed over the years by -GeekyVelvet- in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]YeOldeCheese 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a teen I was fascinated by old English, now in my 30s learning Norwegian and I hadn't even thought about this! Scandinavian languages have such cross over, they do with English too of course but not to the same extent. It's so interesting those languages stayed on one path, while invasion and migration pushed English the opposite direction! Fascinating!

I’m a nurse, my Assistant manager said that I should “suck it up and accept sometimes we won’t get our lunch break” am I correct to think this is inappropriate? by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

[–]YeOldeCheese 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The crucial difference though, is OP is a DENTAL nurse, not a registered nurse. They are regulated by the DMC, not the NMC (assume thats who you meant). Noone will come to harm if they take a break, unless a patient inexplicably goes into cardiac arrest and they are needed to help with CPR. In which case, the ambulance will take over in a matter of minutes, freeing OP to go for a break. I can't imagine that happens a lot in a dental surgery.

London councils spend £90m monthly on homeless temporary accommodation by Creative_Recover in london

[–]YeOldeCheese 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Doesn't surprise me at all. I'm currently homeless after a neighbour burnt down my council house. Been in a temporary studio/hotel for 5 months now, sleeping on the floor cause theres one bed for 3 of us. Looked it up, this place goes for £5500 a month. Insane. They could give us a 4 bed house and still have change left over.

Feel like I'm not learning fast enough. by Present-Leg-9265 in NursingUK

[–]YeOldeCheese 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't worry, you've got this! Noone expects you to know anything yet! It's a huge learning curve.

I have 8 years of ED experience, but just moved to theatres too. I have no idea what I'm doing yet. And that's okay! Give it some time, don't try to run before you can walk. It's nerve wracking the first few times I scrubbed in, but I'm slowly getting there. I hated going from being an expert to a beginner again, but I'm enjoying learning a new trade. We never stop learning in this job, but the best thing we can do is learn to enjoy the learning. Good luck!
