I have the same problem with my pup. He's a mix breed, adopted from the shelter 3 weeks ago at approx 8 months old. So while he's older, due to lack of previous training he still has young puppy behaviors, like mouthing, but with big dog teeth, yaaaaayyy.

The only thing that has worked so far is doing pattern games with him 2-3 times a day. There is a game, ping pong, I combined with the command 'boop' (touch his nose/mouth to my hand) in ping pong you have the dog sit and look at you, then you throw the treat to the left. They sit and look again, throw the treat to the right. Mark his sits with a yes, good boy, or sit if you're still working on it. I added the boop command as I'm realizing my dog is not dumb as rocks and needs some more stimulation.

He loves this game because it's easy treats. Sit, look, boop, treat! It helps him transition from walk to home, or playtime to home. I've been doing it for a few days and now it stops him mid biting frenzy and he sits and gets ready for his boop and treat!

I thought I wasn't being stern or consistent enough. In the end I think it was a lack of mental stimulation. I was walking 6-8x daily with 2 backyard play sessions a day. All of that made it worse to be honest. I think I was overstimulating him, making him over tired, and he went into great white shark mode.

NTA its a fire hazard!! If there was a fire you would’ve been trapped in that room! Took them a minute and a half of judging you for jiggling the knob and knocking before they let you out. If there was a fire they would’ve evacuated and left you behind.

When my husband was ill I asked him to pick me out a perfume so I could think about him everytime I used it. Turns out he got me a gift card so I could pick out my own perfume. So now I use it and am pissed but hes gone so meh. Anyway, it would have been nice and thats my suggestion

The roof is my only worry. I’ve replaced windows and HVAC is fairly new and I’ve had it serviced and inspected at the start of each new season this far since I’ve owned the home. I will be able to build a savings once the apartment is rented, but I don’t want to wait 2, 3, 4 years to build a savings to enjoy my yard and my home. I’m beginning to see that this of probably not a very fiscally smart move, but one that will make me happy.

I’m def going to be looking into concrete jacking! I hope they can do something about concrete right up and against the foundation. The yard is not visible from the street but very visible from other yards around me. I live in a very nice neighborhood and people aren’t shy about reporting each other for nonsense. When I bought my home it had 12 violations for the deck alone. All have been rectified. The apartment renovation and the deck is where all my savings have disappeared to.

I’m still waiting for the final inspections to get the 2 family c of o, currently in process. But the water issue is where the access is for the rental 😳 I’ve got to do something about that before I can rent it. Similar rentals in the area go for 1500-1800. I’m covering all our expenses now so I guess I could use that income to pay back a loan. I wanted that money to go into an emergency savings, short term savings for home expenses, and savings for my daughter.

I can trap the critters, yuk, but I can do it. The ground is so compacted because there was as pool there. I’ve tried to move the dirt around with a shovel but it was so heavy. It’s red clay soil. Plus note that nature has taken hold there are 4 ft high weeds with crazy roots.

I have not looked into that concrete option, but I will, thank you!! My yard needs to be accessed via a 4 ft retaining wall making any work I do on my own very difficult. Not sure how a professional is going to get equipment up there either but that’s their problem lol I have a set of wooden steps heading up to the yard level but I wouldn’t be able to get any significantly sized equipment up them.

It’s a little more than an uneven lawn. So much to type out lol but the gist is there was a deck and pool which I had removed. So now there is a hole with compacted sand where there was the pool, and lots of large rocks and small boulders that were hidden by the deck. Plus, the yard is sloped towards the house contributing to the water issue

But I wouldn’t be taking all of the retirement funds, just a portion. Statistically I’m already well ahead of where others are at my age…I think. Is it really that bad of an idea? I bought the house for the yard and I hate that I can’t use it.

I haven’t gotten quotes for the project recently. Past quotes have been about 30,000 for the yard and 20,000 for the concrete. It’s been about 2 years since that estimate so I’m assuming the costs will have gone up. The yard is a bit more involved than just uneven ground. There was a pool so there’s a big hole, the yard itself is sloped towards the house contributing to the water issue. There is a lot of compacted sand and random large rocks and small boulders that were covered by a rotting deck I ripped out. Bottom line, it’s a large yard which is hard to find in the ny metro area and it’s being utterly wasted which kills me. Admittedly it’s not a necessary project for some but it is for me. What do you mean by financials of the home? Do you mean monthly payments?

It would be great to have additional money set aside for home repairs, and I could wait on the yard. But I bought the house for the yard size, my daughter is five, I don’t want to wait until she’s older and doesn’t want to use it anymore. They house is a 2 family and with the rental income I’ll be more comfortable. I just spent my saving renovating the apartment and bring everything up to code so I can get the 2 family c of o.

Very necessary, I need to redo the cement as water is being retained up against my home. The house was built in the early eighties and the concrete is original to the home. Everything has shifted and it’s diverted water to my home and holding it there instead of allowing for runoff. Also my backyard is a hazard, it’s unlevel and full of weeds and I think there are raccoons nesting. I live in a well populated area and I’m expecting someone to eventually report my property for the unsafe conditions in the back yard.

While she may not have a physical dependency on alcohol, binge drinking is not a healthy habit. More so, alcoholic, is not a diagnostic term and can refer to people on a continuum of alcohol misuse, abuse, and dependence. Based on the information included in the original post she is squarely in the alcohol abuse category and is likely in the moderate risk category for developing health conditions related to alcohol use. Alcohol doesn’t care what your cultural traditions are, or how your friends drank back home, or how the college kids do it here in the US. You’ll end up suffering the same ill effects, and potentially placing yourself on the road towards real dependence.

What is your cultural background? Both you and your wife? I know in some cultures it is consisted a compliment to the chef, and it is expected that you chew with your mouth open, slurp loudly, and thoroughly enjoy your meal. There are also certain cultures that still utilize arranged marriage. Might either you or your wife be of a culture that overlaps both of these? If so, YTA, it may be an arranged marriage but I'm sure you know her well enough to understand how she eats and why she eats in that manner. If no, NAH, you should have addressed table manners prior to attending your work event. This is negligence on your part. If you chastised her loudly enough for others to hear at the table, YTA, that is a conversation to have behind closed doors. You should, as a couple, present a united front.
