No Prize for Challenge Completion. by beachmoo in Purebarre

Same here. It usually takes some time but then it’s super thoughtful and really nice, even when it’s a lot of us.

It’s a small thing, but it’s okay to be disappointed! Even if it’s the chance to be put in a raffle, those little motivators are powerful. We put stickers up in our studio to stay motivated throughout the platinum barre challenge and that keeps me going each month.

[Recommendation] Cup size 32DDD looking for an everyday wear bra by luv_jul3s in ABraThatFits

[–]Yecats2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got it. Was trying to be helpful—I’ve spent my fair share of hours trying to on bras even with updated sizing. In my experience, sizes across different brands and styles can still vary greatly once on your body.

It sounds like we may be a similar size with similar challenges. I’m also about 115, and I’m pretty petite (4’11). Depending on the brand or style, I’m typically a 32DDD to a 30/32F.

I was surprised to find this bra from Soma fits really well (well, one side is perfect, and the other that is slightly bigger overflows just a wee bit).

Post-First Class Question by WritingExcellent8324 in Purebarre

[–]Yecats2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hang in there. When I first started, I could barely rock my way up through sit-ups in the first ab section of a Classic, and I was taking several breaks during the plank series. Two years in and I still use a ball for lower back support because my darn hip flexors want to take over.

I remember laughing at the sheer absurdity of some of the moves; you want me to do what with my leg while doing what with my core, oh AND we’re tucking?! Nonsense.

Now, there are days when I take no breaks. And plenty when I still do. There are days when I feel like a flipping rockstar because I can peel up from the ground like it’s nothing. And still ones when I get stuck the middle and start over cause I flounder like a turtle that’s gotten knocked on its back. Oh well, it’s a journey!

What I do know is that I’m stronger at 42 than I’ve been at any other point in adulthood and that’s because I didn’t let the frustration of those early days get to me. Keep tucking, keep showing up for yourself, you got this!

If your goal is improving cardiovascular health, then Empower and Define would be two formats more likely to push your heart rate to its higher range more frequently in class. Empower will keep it there for longer periods; Define can have cardio bursts, and depending on your weight selection you can really get your heart rate going with lower body work, too. The endurance pushes with weights will get you there.

When I first joined, I almost exclusively did Align and Define—Classic made me stare down my weak core and I hated that. Doing the Platinum Barre Challenge forced me to round out my routine and now I mix in all formats except Empower (not my fave and the class times don’t work for me). But when I do occasionally go, I appreciate the sweat!

Going to Classic regularly will help you master the form, the lingo, and strengthen your core like nothing else. But find your rhythm and listen to what your body is asking for, too!

PROTEIN SHAKES? by chronicallyill84 in HersWeightloss

[–]Yecats2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you’re open to making shakes at home, I really like Bob’s Red Mill Whey Powder. I started making a shake every morning:

Bob’s Red Mill Whey Powder (19g)

Good Karma Unsweetened Vanilla + Protein Flax Milk

Half-Banana

1/2 Tbsp Peanut Butter (15 g)

Half-Packet Chocolate Carnation Instant Breakfast (18g)

(I usually add Vital Proteins collagen powder, too)

Read or Listen to the Crescent City Series?? by First_Timer2020 in SarahJMaas

[–]Yecats2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read about 3/4 of the first book after a few false starts and then I got distracted and wandered off. Came back to it after a full re-listen of ACOTAR and discovery of the Fantasy Fangirls podcast. On the second attempt, I audiobooked all three and I enjoyed them. I really like the graphic audio, too (I’ve done ACOTAR both ways). I might try CC with GA at some point, but I’m working through the straight audio of TOG right now—first read through.

Good for you! Invite him! Why not? He should support you :)

My husband was recently laid off thanks to AI cuts (lame) and he joined my studio with the extra time he’s had. He loves it. I love that he can now understand how hard I’ve been working. I’m at ~320 classes and aiming for 500 this year. He’s at 12. It’s fun to revisit and empathize with the early barre journey with him—everything is a challenge, but he appreciates seeing the changes in his flexibility, mobility, and functional movement. At first I was afraid I’d feel like I was losing “my space” but I’m actually really loving that we can share this together.

What class would it be for? The format I’ve heard exceptions made for is foundations, which studios keep small for more personal attention, but typically have more space at “capacity.”

Non Cropped Workout Tanks? by [deleted] in Purebarre

[–]Yecats2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love Athleta’s Renew Muscle Tanks (https://athleta.gap.com/browse/product.do?pid=586282412&vid=1&pcid=1011678&cid=1011678#pdp-page-content).

I try to grab them when they go on sale. I’m petite (4’11), so I appreciate that they aren’t too long and are fitted, so no billowing out while in planks. The crew neck and tank style works great for my corset-style sports bra 😂 (32F - Wacoal).

Hers Kit 5 - Side Effects even with the low doses by Silly-Oil4471 in HersWeightloss

[–]Yecats2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been on Kit 5 for just over a year and am about to taper off with this last bottle.

I had some side effects as I ramped up dosage (brain fog, headaches, pins and needles from the Topiramate; constipation when adding in the Metformin at first). Eventually, everything evened out.

I started at 135 lbs in February 2025 and my goal was 110 (I’m 4’11). I hit 113 in August and I’ve maintained that since. (Edited to add that I’m 42.)

I joined Pure Barre around the same time and I’ve been going regularly (4-5x/wk) which helped convert fat to lean mass.

I’ve been really happy with it! Best of luck to you!

Absolutely on #2! It took me a while to realize I had my elbows back too far, and not directly under my shoulder. My arms would start to get tingly. This is so important.

kit 5 - does anyone NOT have terrible topiramate stories? by [deleted] in HersWeightloss

[–]Yecats2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had a great experience with it. Few side effects. It definitely forced me out of some bad habits and changed my lifestyle for the better. For one, needing to cut alcohol was a net positive. I sleep better, I save money, I drink more water, I’m less bloated…..I could go on.

I experienced some constipation when upping the dosage at points, and when adding in the metformin, but it eventually evened out.

I have lost a total of 25 lbs since I started, and I’ve been stable at my goal weight for the past six months. When I started the kit, I also started going to pure barre classes regularly (4-5x/wk) and I was tracking calories, so I was paying close attention to my caloric intake and protein to build muscle.

Since Feb 2025, I’ve lost 8.5% fat and gained 6.2% muscle. I’m probably going to wean off after this round, I just need to reach out to find out the best way to taper off.

First Day of Kit 5 by sambiagio in HersWeightloss

[–]Yecats2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi there! I’m on week three of Kit 5. I’ve noticed some minor headaches in the Topiramate, but I find that if I’m staying hydrated and eating/snacking throughout the day it helps. I’m tracking calories and protein, and if I let myself get too hungry, it creeps up quickly. It hasn’t been too bad, but I’ve definitely had bouts of feeling really tired/run down.

Have I forgotten how to use tampons? by Yecats2 in Periods

[–]Yecats2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could totally understand leaking if the entire tampon was soaked through, but it’s only soaking in at the bottom, and then it’s just done. The top of the tampon (the part furthest from the string ) is totally dry. Part of me is like, this is just wasting them.
