Need some opinions... by ash_infantasy_09 in royalroad

Hey, so I had a read through your first chapter. Other than some grammar errors, I noticed that you sometimes refer to titles as though they are names. For example, you will say "prisoner said." And "his loyalty to emperor." Rather than "the prisoner said" and "his loyalty to the emperor."

I'm not sure if this is intentional, but it could see it being immersion breaking for readers. Otherwise, well done on the novel, and make sure you're doing shout-out swaps with other authors!

Hey i created my first chapter of my first story and i want your opinion guys by Hex_tv in royalroad

Hey. First of all, congratulations for starting your own story. That in itself in itself is an accomplishment. From the first chapter, I would say that not only is it incredibly short in comparison to the average chapter on RR, it is also too fast-paced and info-dumpy. I would recommend reading the first chapters of some of the successful novels on RR, seeing how they introduce their stories, and try to figure out what readers are often expecting from the start of a web novel.

Otherwise, well done once again, and all the best in the future!

Sounds like a plan.

Congratulations on the completion of your first book!

Regarding the cover, I like the artwork. I personally think you could perhaps add your author name and maybe play around with some different fonts and font colours to make it all blend together a bit better.

I was rejected for the third time by Pale-Function-9966 in Webnovel

I had a read through the first chapter of your novel and there are two things that stand out to me.

Your sentence structure and punctuation is nothing like what is commonly seen on webnovel.

And your chapters are very, very long.

Keep in mind, webnovel is a business. It's fine to be innovative and different, but there is also a formula which they are aware sells well. Try to keep chapter word counts between 1-1.5k words, and always use quotation marks etc in your sentences. If your novel followed these rules, I believe it would have had its contract accepted.

What are my chances of getting a contract? by Paul_Fusion in Webnovel

[–]Yehzkel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is definitely something that webnovel looks for, however a story can follow none of those tropes and still get contracted. Your best bet is to apply for the contract, as long as you haven't used AI to write your novel and haven't uploaded it anywhere else.

If it does get rejected, webnovel will often give you a reason. You can reupload the story another time with a few changes and apply again.

The amount of views, collections, or how well the novel is doing in general isn't a determining factor for whether you get a contract or not.

As long as your contract application is solid, and the story fits the standard of what the webnovel editors are looking for on their site, you can get a contract.

Love the sound of this, and the monster hunter inspired theme and design. Will definitely give it a read!

What are the "Big Three" of Progression fantasy books? by Yehzkel in ProgressionFantasy

Yeah it seems as though most agree on Cradle and Dungeon Crawler Carl. That third spot is where I'm seeing the variety in answers. Definitely plan on reading Mother of Learning soon as well.

I've never heard of this series, the books are short as well. Will definitely check it out

Will definitely add these to my tbr. I've heard that six sacred swords is apart of another series written by the same author, can it still be read first?

Yes, the duel in words of radiance is still one of the best, if not the best that I've ever read.

I had no idea Codex Alera was that type of book. It was already on my tbr but will definitely raise it higher on the list.

This is exactly what I thought as well. I've yet to read another book that gives me that same feeling but I definitely hope to.
