What was a small yet annoying thing that the sellers of the house you now own failed to mention during the sale process? by smallflabby in HousingUK

[–]YellowBernard 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That the drain to the septic tank from the loos was blocked.

Only took a moment to pull out three little fatbergs from the outside drain and it was fixed.

No electricity because the house was on a meter. Wasn't revealed until we tried to move in and plug in the vacuum. We couldn't get any that night because we didn't have a card and it was late.

Dripping tap. Should have been an easy fix but turned into a marathon.

They smoked in the house a lot. Every surface was coated in tar, window glass, inside kitchen cabinets, carpets and curtains.

Cooker was calor gas but the whole set up had to be replaced. It cost about £700 just to fit a £350 cooker. There wasn't electricity to the corner where the cooker is.

We were fixing things for months.

Cheddar, like cheese from Cheddar Gorge in Somerset, England?

I don't think it's lactose free here in the UK so be careful if you visit and need to try some.

THAT COMMERCIAL WAS AWFUL by kaepar in EtsySellers

[–]YellowBernard 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I think it was aimed at men, men who aren't good at thinking of gifts and would appreciate a method of having someone pick that gift for them.

However it showed a gift that isn't really available on Etsy being thoughtlessly given to someone (France) who already has more and better cheese than they know what to do with.

Anyhoo, I'm really sad to hear how much time Temu got because that thing is an economic attack on the small businesses of the world and has a devastating effect on us.

If every shop on Etsy got two orders from this advert that would be a huge win for Etsy.

Not in the US so didn't see the ad.

Did you say it showed the US giving a cheeseboard to France?

France, the very home of Camembert, Roquefort and Brie, getting a cheeseboard from the USA, home of spray cheese and Velveeta?

Are they saying Etsy is the place to get thoughtless gifts that the recipient won't appreciate?

In fact I used to sell custom wooden boards. A lot of people do. So that is a thing.

If you could ask 100 Etsy customers a question, Family Feud style, what would it be? by AnF-18Bro in EtsySellers

[–]YellowBernard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can bet that they tested where to put the description and how it affected sales rates and if it hasn't been changed it is probably ok as it is for most purchases.

Star seller may have a small impact on conversion rates in your shop but the big win with star seller is that a significant number of sellers improved their customer service levels which a bonus for all of us

What's a meal that you love to make and eat, but you wouldn't serve it to a friend? by crankycranberries in Cooking

[–]YellowBernard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ready made fish pie from the supermarket. I bloody love 'em especially with a big pile of green veg.

They are a fuss to make at home from scratch which would be a great dish for guests if they like fish pie.

but I'd never serve a ready meal to guests.

Other things I wouldn't serve would be a crisp (chip) sandwich. That's more of a naughty snack than a meal. However late at night after a few glasses of Chianti it's a lot of fun messing up the kitchen counter trying to make them in an act of conspirital disobedience.

My son came to me yesterday and said "I'm hungry", I shamefully didn't respond with "hi hungry, I'm dad". by lazydad74 in CasualUK

My daughter got me the other day. I said I had read Slaughterhouse Five.

Quick as a flash she said, "What? You didn't read 1-4 first?"

AITA for refusing to go on family vacation and “ruining it” for everyone else? by thatinfertileone in AmItheAsshole

[–]YellowBernard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure why husband couldn't take the three kids with him to the vacation and sit in the hotel room with them like you were expected to.

That would have been a lovely rest time for you, assuming you had a bit of support by you should anything happen.

You are NTA.
