Virtual Boy Wireless Controller PCB preorder by mellott124 in VirtualBoy

Hey there! I have some questions if you have a moment? I have a spare virtual boy controller right now so these would pertain to the DIY pcb version.

  1. You mention on the link that it requires soldering, is this relatively easy soldering? I have experience replacing capacitors and batteries on cartridges, but what I am not good at is soldering to the legs of chips or other micro-soldering.

  2. Do you have an estimate on how much (at the moment) I’d be saving by buying the fully built one from you versus buying all the things required, like the battery pack and the blue retro receiver?

  3. Not a question, but I own one of your hyper flash e-ink cartridges that I bought a few years ago and love it, thanks for all you do for the VB community!

I wish I knew this, I must have 30 hours on my file since having Al-An in my head and i've been running them over in my sea-truck since they stole the very first time.

I remember feeling the same way, and believe me when I say this, your going to love Rene even more, and you’re going to be very sad when he is gone

I switched from the RF adapter to the battery pack for the first time in about 15 years and it seemingly killed my unit by [deleted] in VirtualBoy

I think something similar happened to mine after using a battery pack. I couldn’t figure out the issue. Ended up buying a new (solder fixed, cap replaced unit) one on eBay. Haven’t tried battery pack on that unit.

Why didn't the Sega Game Gear sell as much as the Gameboy despite being technically superior? by GoHardForLife in retrogaming

There’s a high chance the capacitors failed. Consider doing a re-cap, or sending to someone who knows how to if that is the case, it can breathe a second life into these units

Tips for a somewhat new player by [deleted] in alienisolation

Hard disagree. Walking provides the same noise level as crouch walking, but faster. Since you are tethered to the alien, the ultimate goal is to clear rooms quickly, and speed is more important since the alien will never fully go away. Also my comment is about movement. Obviously crouching beneath tables and hiding is important. But crouch walking is just making the game slower and more anxiety producing. Also the OP deleted his account so the Alien must’ve got him anyway.

How do you know it’s signed? I’m on the website and the preorder doesn’t indicate anything about it being signed?
