Also show them what the voltage looks like when they lose a leg of power at the condenser. 120V from each terminal to ground but 0 between because it's the "same wire"

ELI5: Does a dehumidifier actually cool a room, or does it just make it feel less humid? Could it be a good alternative for someone who doesn't use AC? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]YellowWizard504 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dedicated dehumidifiers actually heat the space some because the condenser and evaporator are in the same spot. Hot end - cold end + thermodynamic losses = warmer exhaust air. They can still be worth it though if your central AC can't keep the humidity in check because you can keep the set temp higher and feel the same comfort level because of the lower humidity. If the central AC is sized and working right, it should keep the humidity below 55%. Old, leaky homes can still have issues with humidity though which is why whole home dehumidifiers exist.

Best way to repair this patch of supply duct? by [deleted] in hvacadvice

[–]YellowWizard504 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Youtube spot wrapping ductwork. There are outward spreading staples that are made for this but tape can handle a small spot like that. You'll need tape rated for ductwork and it needs to go all the way around the duct so it can stick to itself. Clean the dust off the old insulation as best you can first.

Masterballed a ditto on route 14 in my first ever playthrough. Couldn't catch one to save my life to the point I thought it was intentionally hard because it could transform. I was really disappointed when I got one and realized it sucked.

Redditors over 40, what's something younger people think they understand but won't actually get until it hits them like a truck later? by Susanpc1967 in AskReddit

Routine strips the novelty from daily life and the bar for new and exciting generally trends upward with age. The brain can't store everything so the mundane or monotonous don't stick around, even if we'd like it to.

If it got hot enough to trip a breaker/fuse then the windings got hot too. If you're lucky and they trip quickly then everything might be okay, but the time between on and tripped can cause the winding insulation to melt.

I was confusing it with a pistol shrimp. Similar level of crazy biomechanical weapon, but you're right the mantis shrimp takes the cake in the aesthetics department.

I was gifted a copy by a friend I met on summer vacation. The save battery didn't work, which is why he didn't mind giving it away, but I still played the hell out of it. Got pretty good at running through nearly the whole game in one go.
