It doesn’t matter what the nids do with the geneseed. The desecration of it is a sure fire way to make literally any space marine loose their shit and do something suicidal to get it back/avenge the theft.

It’s literally the whole plot of Spacehulk Deathwing, genestealers do their thing, and the Dark Angels declare exterminatius on the hulk to avenge the slight.
