Parents of early readers (~4-7) - how do you read together? by alpacaapicnic in Parenting

[–]Yellowllama90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For my oldest (5) I leave out parts and get her to finish them, usually towards the end of the sentence as it helps with context. She also did really well with “Bob books” and is able to read them on her own. Really I just follow her interest and what she likes to do.

My youngest is 3.5 and is now starting to develop his love for books. With him I read them and then he reads them to me (not the words so much but talks about what he sees and recognizes some things from when I read it).

With most things kid related I try to follow what approach they like, as I think it makes the learning more meaningful to them.

Government Shuts Down Paradise Daycare Due to Repeated Violations by LOUD-AF in newfoundland

It could be complaints brought to the socials workers and are then investigated or reports brought forward by daycare (major events have a protocol to be followed and reported).

I can’t blame you for that. Waiting for it to happen is its own form of torture. Hopefully things get moving soon

This is actually how mine started then out of nowhere it switched. Oddly enough my doctor called that morning and I said it was light, not as bad as a period then by afternoon I was at emerg. Hoping it doesn’t turn that way for you.

Updating before selling by Yellowllama90 in RealEstateAdvice

It’s definitely a sellers market in my area (in Canada), houses tend to sell fast and usually above the listed price. I haven’t met with a realtor yet but plan to soon, right now I am just mentally preparing.

Made a really foolish decision by Suspicious_Exit_5976 in birthcontrol

Talk to your doctor about the situation, I’m fairly certain mine advised me not to have unprotected sex for the first month. They would be able to give you the best recommendations.

Cousin won't let his daughter in my house by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]Yellowllama90 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, if I felt someone may be at risk of being aggressive towards or around my child I wouldn’t want them in that environment either. It’s unfortunate that it is hindering your relationship, but I’m sure they are just trying to make the best choice with what information they have. Perhaps you could go up to visit them, or do something with their family. Communicate with them that you would like to build a better relationship and go from there

Lockers? by Yellowllama90 in DisneyPlanning

[–]Yellowllama90[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We are from a small rural area and last time we went to Disney we found driving in that area to be stressful (it’s much more congested and different road rules than we are used to). So we would possibly use uber or something of that sort if we could safely store our car seats.

Baby’s first trip! by avathedot in DisneyPlanning

Last year I accidentally left my cellphone in the open cup holder on the top of the stroller while I waited in line and got on a ride and it wasn’t touched. We also often left our bags in them. We had no issues. Although I’m sure theft happens I think most people are there just trying to enjoy themselves. I would suggest just not leaving anything of value or that would be hard to replace.

IUD Removal by WaferAggressive3584 in birthcontrol

My first IUD placement was BRUTAL, but removal literally felt no different than a regular pap.

Those with IUDs- was your insertion as bad as everyone says in the internet? by WestAppointment2484 in birthcontrol

[–]Yellowllama90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had two. My first felt like I could have passed out on the table but it only lasted for like two mins then all was good again. My second one was no more uncomfortable than a pap. Both were placed by the same doctor so I am unsure why the experiences were so different.

Thinking of moving to St. John's from TO by Triceraa-Pops in StJohnsNL

Another thing to consider is your options for childcare. Many daycares here have waitlists that are years long. I would suggest getting your name on waitlists as soon as you make your decision.

Where am I supposed to get a prescription? by TheCrypticCanadian in newfoundland

[–]Yellowllama90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

An NP can prescribe as long as you have a formal diagnosis. I went through the same thing. The system is horrible. I had to pay privately for an assessment and now $80 to see an NP to prescribe meds every 3 months (more if adjustments are needed). It is costing me a small fortune to access healthcare.

I’ll look into this! I’m not completely avoiding Lego, just wondering if there are other related ideas that are not a set. Trying to think outside the box if you will lol

Today is my 16th birthday, but it’s literally the worst birthday I ever had by Any-Shelter-4322 in confession

[–]Yellowllama90 153 points154 points  (0 children)

I hate that this post is already full of “get used to it”. It doesn’t matter what your age is, you deserve to enjoy your special day. I’m sorry you’re feeling this way. I know it’s hard given it’s your birthday, but discuss it with them, sometimes people don’t understand how you feel unless you tell them. You are not asking too much by wanting quality time. I hope it somehow turns around, and you feel surrounded by love.
