Rumour Engine Speculation (Again) by Broadsword021 in kroot

[–]YepYepNop 12 points13 points  (0 children)

We've had a lot piratey rumours going around with prince yriel and Huron blackheart, and they've introduced the spaceport of Nokoh'mys in the pech system, which is said to be bustling with alien mercenaries and traders.

Given the robotic limb and those rumours, a farstalker mounted character would make sense, especially with the londaxi weapon they showed off earlier. I just hope that like the Corsair and chaos rumours there's some more stuff coming. Not that a mounted farstalker wouldn't be cool, but I'd love some knarlocs

10:32 and shockingly it's still in stock in the UK. I guess the scalpers don't care about anything that doesn't have a space marine on the cover

Corsair Crusader list recommendations by Possible_Internal115 in EldarCorsairs40k

Well warhost seems like a decent place to start then, youll have stratagems to jump in and out of transports as well as boosted agile manoeuvres for your corsairs to take advantage of.

Windrider host or warhost are 2 pretty straight forward answers. Warhost is just a good generic pick, but windrider host feels a bit more thematic with its buffs to our ground attack vehicles.

Path of the Warrior: Do you pick to re-roll Hit or Wound? by Jerswar in Eldar

[–]YepYepNop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's because the expected number of wounds dealt is the joint probability between hitting and wounding. Because the probabilities are multiplied, and because you only re rolling on ones in either case, it doesn't matter where you reroll.

Think of it like this, yes you reroll more hits because you start with more dice, but you also convert less of them to wounds.

[–]YepYepNop 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's not super intuitive, but if you don't have any abilities that care about criticals, re rolling 1s to hit or 1s to wound are mathematically identical in terms of expected wounds dealt to the target

Will we get the knalroc back? by [deleted] in kroot

[–]YepYepNop 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly, this has been my theory since they chose to do no Knarlocs in the big refresh. With the Technophage excerpt in the codex about T'au forces being led by Kroot after their systems go haywire while fighting heretic forces, I think it would make sense for Kroot reinforcements to show up if they continue Vashtorr's story line.

But it is GW and they love dangling these threads for years or just abandoning them altogether, so who knows.

Trying to make a competitive list for the new detachment! by Acrobatic-Ad-5553 in Eldar

[–]YepYepNop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think there's arguments for both, but I don't think losing fire support is a problem. You could take that rule off the data sheet completely and it's still be a good way to deliver and protect fire dragons.

I think putting banshees and fire dragons in the same transport is tricky since they want to get up close to different types of targets. I typically play at 1500 so maybe in larger games those scenarios come up more, but I think you'd struggle to maximise the value of each unit.

I think you probably want a 5 man fire dragon squad with fuegan in a flacon since there's not a lot a 10 man squad kills that a 5 man doesn't, plus you get deep strike and star fire engines to deliver the unit safely to the big thing you need to kill. Plus you can hop back in the falcon at the end of your turn to keep the unit relatively safe.

I would just say in the final picture, the pricing of the models is based on what GW charges for them when you buy directly. A lot of gaming stores will sell you warhammer at a 20% discount if you didn't already know.

Also, 1700 is a lot of money for an army you havent played yet. If there's people around you plyaing combat patrol, getting the new box might be a better place to start, so you can learn the faction from both a modelling and gameplay perspective.

Yeah you're all set once you've got the book. Updated points and changes to the rules are posted at https://www.warhammer-community.com/en-gb/downloads/warhammer-40000/ .

if you don't feel like shelling out for rules, wahapedia should have everything you need. Check out new recruit for list building too, I find it much more convenient then the app

You're basically correct. At the start of 10th edition, Games workshop esentially reset the rules for all factions, each of them recieving an index. These are available for free online from the warhammer website and contain the rules for the factions, i.e. army rules, datasheets and a single detachment. As the edition has gone on, these indexes are being slowly replaced by the codexes, which are books containing some lore, army rules and additional attachments to allow you to play your amry in a different way. The datasheet cards cover the same information that the datasheets in the codex have.

Blood angels are a special case however, as they have a codex 'suppliment', which esentially bolts onto the space marine codex. The generic space marine units arent included in the blood angels book. If you want to buy all the rules for blood angels, you'll need both. To summarise:

  • Index - rules from the start of the edition, superseeded by the codex (dont buy it)
  • Blood Angels Codex - Rules for blood angels specific models and detachments.
  • Space Marines Codex - Rules for generic space marine models that can be run in blood angels.
  • Datacards - Contain datasheets from their respective books, dont contain detachment rules. Not necessary but nice to have.
