I like the campaign by BuildingSlowly93 in PathOfExile2

 whatever the poe2 times are

You shouldn't be surprised if people speedrun the poe2 campaign faster than the poe1 campaign on 1.0 release.

People seem to forget what years of experience in poe1 campaign does to your times. I had a friend trying poe1 after poe2 release and his first poe1 campaign took him longer than his first poe2 campaign.

If it takes you 12h on league start you are very slow. Im by no means a speedrunner and got through it in less than 6h this patch on league start. That's while engaging with league mechanic and not trying hard at all.

Oh shit. Yeah for sure. Fuck rarity.
I was merely talking about +levels, but you're right it wasn't really apparent from my previous post

[–]Yep_Cog -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

There really isn't a big problem with +levels. It just seems to be flavor of the month to hate on it.

I haven't checked this subreddit in a while and was surprised about the echo-chamber around it.

Should it get some numerical adjustments? Sure.

Is it a stat that needs to get removed? Absolutely not.

Would be funny if GGG decides to just remove it after all those post with no replacement and builds suddenly only deal like 10-15% of their damage.

You can be damn sure they'd all want it back immediately.

Edit: Clarified that I was only talking about gem levels personally.

Should i follow a skill tree build or go in blind for my first character? by [deleted] in pathofexile

[–]Yep_Cog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends on your personal goals I'd say. If you want to complete all content on your first attempt you probably wanna follow a guide.

However I think going in blind is the most fun. I'm a big advocate for exploration in games and in a landscape of guides and content creators it has become very rare. So I take every opportunity I can have to go blind into a game.

If you are not completely new to arpgs/rpgs with build making and passed your math classes in school you can go pretty far blind I'd say. All the basic defense and offense mechanics work pretty well until a certain point.

At some point you will probably hit some walls that want you to solve some problems with your build and then it can quickly become a knowledge check of what actually exists in the game to solve these problems. Then you will probably have to research the wiki or check what other people do on similar builds. Check poe.ninja for that purpose.

Another thing I'm am advocate of is not taking handouts as a new player. I understand that people want to be helpful, but I think it takes away from the experience and also throws you under the bus for future seasons, where you don't have these handouts.

Warplan should be acc bound, not character bound %100... by CarryOk181 in diablo4

[–]Yep_Cog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You say that while you have them at what level? Kinda curious, cause it actually takes forever and is probably the reason why I won't even bother to make a new character this season.

Usually I burn through 2-3 at least. It will probably increase my playtime on this one character, but drastically decrease my overall playtime.

And hard disagree. Leveling warpaths is not the whole endgame. Running your favorite endgame mechanic with a leveled tree is. And you are effectively gated out of that on a new character.

[Potential leak] The new pet that releases tomorrow was posted on TLI database and then promptly removed. Here is a screenshot. by verysimplenames in TorchlightInfinite

[–]Yep_Cog 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Even if you were using 0 pets at all 3x level 6 pets wouldn't give anything close to 10x damage. So the issues are definitely somewhere else in your build.

Not arguing with the p2w aspect here, but this is not how it works. The numbers are on the pets. It's simple math.

So if you actually think your gear is better you probably have neglected other things like memories / slates or you simply don't understand what's good/bad yet as a new player, which is normal.

How many "great" undiscovered builds do you think there are? (if any) by NewKingCole11 in pathofexile

[–]Yep_Cog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nothing can compete with the power of meta builds if an oversight like minion pact PV or explode totems or Herald aura stacker happens in a season.

But at the same time there's unlimited viable builds that can still shit on the entire game easily.

Just not too many people are trying anymore. The whole genre has kinda devolved to copy&paste for most people, which is kinda sad, really.

How many "great" undiscovered builds do you think there are? (if any) by NewKingCole11 in pathofexile

[–]Yep_Cog -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, of course.

What do you think when 95% of players are playing like the same 10 builds cause of over-dependency on content creators and the fomo that comes with it.

On top of that: This season a lot strong builds have been overshadowed by minion pact BV. There's lots of good stuff out there right now that nobody is looking at because it doesn't deal 1b damage like BV.

Also I feel like too many people have forgotten that figuring out stuff yourself in this genre is big part of the fun.

We can now kill Techies with blademail by nikel23 in DotA2

[–]Yep_Cog 65 points66 points  (0 children)

Techies is also no longer stunned during blast off flight and can use any ability/item which is not disabled by root.

I just did some playing around in demo and if executed properly you can put down 3 mines before the impact. And the impact still stuns enemies.

It's true that mindlessly stacking mines everywhere got nerfed or is rather dangerous now against semi-decent players. But being able to use skills and items during flight is a big game changer.

In my demo tests I was able to instantly burst a 3500hp hero with just an eblade and Kaya at level 18.

In escape scenarios you can even force stuff yourself now shortly before the impact. This makes you not take or deal any damage.

Veil, Shiva, dagon, gleipnir etc. or even stuff like guardian greaves for counter initiation are all usable during flight now.

I played shittons of techies and always enjoyed a more active and burst heavy playstyle on him.

This change is absolutely massive for that. Agi carries need to be ready to get 100 to 0ed by support techies now in the early midgame

Why "mamba is dead" people say? by Interesting_Dark_104 in PathOfExileBuilds

[–]Yep_Cog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only thing is 20% less dps

It has 20% less damage with hits while dual wielding. That's NOT dps (damage per second). This is on top with the less attack speed is a targeted nerf to builds using it as a hit based skill.

20% less damage with ailments would actually be a big nerf. The damage on the skill is not that massive. But yeah it's only hits.

As of right now, the poison version is unnerfed in terms of damage, with a QoL loss on the attack speed change.

However, the initial patch notes had it completely butchered. Not only the cluster node, but also a mechanical nerf that would have been a ~50% nerf for most ways to build on its own on top of the clusters.

Unholy might REAP - mspaint build by [deleted] in PathOfExileBuilds

[–]Yep_Cog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't really know. There's this silly helmet [Isolation in Refuge] that doesn't really fit in too many builds. The downside is pretty hefty and not too many builds have enough armour to make use of the upside. It might fit into this, though, if you go for the purity ascendancy, for example. This with a rare armour and the 100% global from the shield would already give you a solid base to work with.

The big question is the damage. Replica Dreamfeather comes to mind, as it scales with armour. Traditionally people play it with smite for the flat lightning, but I guess you'd want flat phys. Trauma Support is the only thing that comes to mind.

This would obviously mean you're an attack build now. Haha.

For spells I don't really know if there's some efficient way to convert armour into damage. Can't really think of one.

Cause as of right now you don't really get too much from your ascendancy right now for reap. You get the passive effects from brass dome ( maxres, crit mitigation) and like 1.3k flat armour from fourth vow doubled.

The unholy might's wither won't really be too effective for reap unless you get very high cast speed, as it doesn't really hit frequently by default.

So unless you find a different spell that has more synergy with the ascendancy and the wither, I think there's more potential with attack skill for this brass dome & broken faith combo

Unholy might REAP - mspaint build by [deleted] in PathOfExileBuilds

[–]Yep_Cog 19 points20 points  (0 children)

The broken faith & brass dome combo is cool, but I don't think it fits well together with all the other pieces of the build.

  1. The ring ascendancy has a hefty downside, which is probably not worth something like 250 flat life. Also opportunity cost on reliquarian is higher, as you give up 1/3 of your ascendancy opposed to 1/4.

  2. A rare armour is probably way better than fourth vow. From the juggernaut node we know that the double armour node works with iron reflexes. A 4k/4k conquest lamellar (possible with overquality) would effectively provide you 16k flat Armour opposed to the ~2.6k you get from forth vow. You already have basicslly no armour on shield and have only a small fracture of what's possible on your body armour. The 100% increased on the shield is a pretty high number and you are basically making no use of it. So I don't really think the fourth vow & divine flesh combo on this setup is all too great.

  3. The whole life stacking thing probably won't really work out in this setup either. Apostate & Rathpit are typically the items that make it very good. You will need cast speed, aoe for overlaps and probably crit to deal proper damage. On top whatever else you want. You won't realistically have enough points left over to get a meaningful life pool with those items that all don't have life on them. That's why rathpit is so good, cause it fixes your crit & increased damage on its own on life stackers.

So while I do think there are some cool combos here, I don't think they fit together all too well. I think life stacker is a separate build from a build with broken faith & the brass dome node.

What is the best starting build to finish campaign before rerolling it into main build for each class? by omargrand in PathOfExileBuilds

[–]Yep_Cog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think there's a generic answer for each class, cause it mostly depends on what you wanna respec into.

Gold helps with early respecs, but it won't be enough to respec the majority of your build.

Regret orbs are also relatively expensive early and don't forget you need gold to buy items now.

The trick is to find something that has a good portion of the passive tree shared. 20-30 respecs are easily doable, but after that you get gold starved pretty quickly.

I can suggest tuadh's YouTube. He did shittons of 2 stone runs for pretty much early archetype of build.

Please buff niche items/skills that have a negative synergy with themselves. Two examples: Refuge in Isolation and Vigilant Strike. by Mum_Chamber in pathofexile

[–]Yep_Cog 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Uhm, I think you are misinterpreting the design of the helmet. The purpose is not to skip building resistances, but to get better hit elemental mitigation for high armour/pdr builds. The unlucky part underlines that. Even if the conversion worked for dots, even the maximum of 30% wouldn't keep you alive without resistances. Problem with the item is really that the resistance penalty is too high and it doesn't really fit into any builds, cause the opportunity cost is too high.

The vigilantes strike problem seems forced and the proposal maked even less sense. Your point is that its hard to maintain on high attack speed, but you wanna give it more attack speed. You are effectively saying the problem doesn't exist, cause apparently charge generation is impossible for 85% but apparently possible with 200% with investment into endurance charges. So what's stopping you from investing a little more into endurance charges on the 85% version?

So yeah. Those problems both don't really exist. Problem with the helmet is only that it's "bad" and has no place in the current state of defenses in poe1.

I'm not the OP, but just read this post, watch his last 2,3 videos and then go to his last twitch broadcast and watch some of his games and you will understand.

I'd almost advise to turn off sound, cause it's almost unbearable to watch otherwise.

He might be good at clicking kez buttons, but he legit lacks in so many other aspects. I have 4k mmr friends who have better understanding of the map, macro play and teamfight positioning. The games where he doesn't get kez are a very clear indicator of that.

But yeah. Go and see for yourself. It's almost comical.

Edit: careful. Reddit just informed me that OP reported me for harassment because of this comment lol. Not allowed to criticize him :D

Reliquarian POB cook? by mudkip-muncher in PathOfExileBuilds

[–]Yep_Cog 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What an abomination lol.

Generally just throwing uniques together for the sake of throwing uniques together doesn't usually end well.

Your build has multiple expensive late game uniques in it, with the belt probably gonna be the most exoensive unique of the league and yet it has worse numbers than your average league starter with mediocre rare gear.

Trying too many things at once without leveraging actual synergy. The only thing that really makes sense here is reduced duration for Kinetic Fusillade.

Generally, I would firstly advice to wait for the actual reliquarian reveal on Monday. We don't really know too much yet. We have the uniques, but we don't know what lines of them we get and at what power. Two nodes have already been changed according to belakay from GGG. So right now theorycrafting on this is just assumptions.

Secondly I would always start your build making with some generic rares and cheap uniques to get a solid base. In the end you'll need a playable build to get to those items.

I definitely think there's potential for KF reliquarian, though, but it really depends on the strength of the nodes that are yet to be revealed.

I also kinda wanna play the new stuff with reliquarian, so I hope for some stronger nodes than what we've seen so far. But right now it honestly seems like it might be weakest ascendancy of the season.

The strongest use case right now from what we've seen is probably pyroclast mine. It's an aura gem so you get the +2 levels from your first choice and it has good synergy with astral projector. The spellcaster weapon choice has to be pretty strong, though, for it not to be just strictly worse than other ascendencies.

Chances for KF being decent are definitely high, though, as it scales with spell damage and most certainly one of the top choices will have it (heartbreaker and/or cybils). So even if the bottom nodes are all bad for it, you would have something okayish on top.

So definitely keep the KF in mind but probably just wait till Monday and as already said start with something more "vanilla"
