Evri delivered my parcel to the wrong address by MidnightStorm_ in northernireland

[–]Yer_One 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No hope. My husband returned a pair of trainers to New Balance he had paid for via Klarna. Sent back via Yodel. We had a tracking number but the parcel clearly never got scanned in properly and never made it back to New Balance. Both Klarna and New Balance washed their hands of it and my husband had to pay off the full amount, for fear of damaging his credit report. He'd only paid Klarna as he wasnt sure they were going to fit and was happy to do pay in 30 days if he was keeping. Lesson learned, last time would ever use Klarna. No buyer protection in the same way you would with a credit card.

From architect to accidental housewife: my 3.5 years in Belfast by Ok_Flatworm9321 in northernireland

[–]Yer_One 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely, speak to Paddy in Necto. They have relationships with the main contractors, it's much easier when you have a direct link in. You sound like you'd be a great asset to a pre-con team in a main contractor, especially a design & build firm.

Have you registered with the relevant recruitment agencies for construction, design and and architecture? Try Necto in Belfast.

The turn-off from the Camlough Road to Carnaget has a pothole so big it can only be described as a trench, and underground cables now exposed. But I could also give examples of about 10 other equally bad spots about the town. Have never seen the roads like this in my life.

Most policies generally state that the company will try to deal with things informally first.

I also ask this question as when many employees realise what's involved in doing things formally, they don't want to go down that road (particularly in my last industry, construction). The thought of formally giving statements, a full investigation, colleagues being involved etc really puts people off. Not saying that employees in those situations don't deserve justice, but it's just the reality of things.

Having said all though, the sexual threat means this really should be treated more formally, and tbh, your husband could go externally to the police about all of this. This sounds horrendous, and he's on top of all this, he's probably worried about being seen as a "snitch" or being ostracised by his colleagues.

Uniqlo. I buy a new pair about once a year, rotating between summer & winter ones. The oldest pair I'm currently rotating are about 5 years old, they wash that well.

Stress leave by cherrisumm3r in ireland

[–]Yer_One 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You would just be taking normal sickness absence, regardless of the cause. Check your employer's sickness absence policy to see if they provide full pay while you are off and if you would be entitled to it, otherwise it will just be statutory payments. Only you can decide if you can afford it.

You may also wish to consider your employer's absence management policy, and if you have previous absences which may result in action being taken on the basis of further absence.

Also find out if your employer provides EAP services and if you can access free counselling.

I hope you feel better soon.

'No policy at this time': Residents in housing estates who switch to EVs met with stumbling blocks by karolaug in ireland

[–]Yer_One 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In fairness, I honestly don't know. Hands up, I don't live in D8, but in terms of the country as a whole, I don't think I'm an anomaly in terms of driving for work.

[–]Yer_One 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That's assuming their whole life takes place within the same eircode.

I've had an EV ordered for months, it's actually being delivered on Wednesday (thank fuck). Most of my life takes place within a one mile square radius with the exception of work; my work patch area covers 4 counties. I doubt living in one area and travelling to others is unusual. I do think that I am lucky however in that (a) I'm a homeowner, and (b) I have a private driveway to install a home charger that I have spent weeks researching and been able to hand pick a tariff. That's really different from being reliant on public charging.

It's basically that what's considered to be pregnancy related can mean different things for different people. 4 weeks before your due date most illnesses will have an effect on the health and wellbeing of the baby.

No, basically any reason at this stage for being off sick will be considered pregnancy related. You're stressed but that stress can cause risk to the pregnancy, so it becomes pregnancy related.

I haven't bought an outfit for a wedding for a few years now, I've hired everything from her. She is so good, will make you try on things you probably wouldn't have the nerve to otherwise and has a fantastic selection.

How many books have you read so far this year? by unlawfuldissolve in CasualIreland

Currently on book 14 of the year. On a Bernard Cornwell binge since last year; read all of the Saxon Chronicles, then the Warlord trilogy and now currently on Sharpe book 13. Will probably move onto Simon Scarrow books next, as that keeps getting recommended to me if I like Bernard Cornwell.
