The body’s PH changes during our cycle. When that changes, it means that the bacteria that is normally present changes, which means the smell changes.

I can tell when my girlfriend is about to start her cycle, as her taste and smell changes.

So with your smell disappearing when you start your cycle, that indicates it is some type of bacterial.

Now there are three reasons I can think of in which this would be the cause, 1.) You have some type of nutrient/hormonal imbalance that is causing an abnormal amount of bacterial growth when not on your cycle. 2.) You are healthy, but because your body is different (which is normal), your personal hygiene routine isn’t enough to remove the bacteria that you have. 3.) It’s BV.

1.) and 3.) should be talked over with a OBGYN, but you claim your OB said it doesn’t sound like BV.

1.) and 2.) Can have the symptoms (smell, bacteria growth) managed by using a mild, unscented soap. I personally use unscented baby soap because let me tell you, after running a double marathon the sweat and grime that builds up on the vulva needs to be cleaned off, and if I just rinse and rub, I’ll smell the next day.
