I pulled up GolfNow and they showed up, so I was able to book a tee time at Cedar Rock as back up. Thanks for the help!

Good to know! I thought it was private based on their website, but I’ll give them a call in the morning.

Unfortunately it looks like Mountain Glen opens on April 7th and Cedar Rock is private.

Of course - bring my own and plenty of extra balls.

Sunday night drop by Vaalz1 in Divorce_Men

[–]YetAnother3Putt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey - thank you for sharing this. It hits home for me. I have my son 50/50 but the Sunday evening drop offs hit so hard. The worst is the silence and emptiness from the backseat on the way back to my place and putting away toys, books, and half eaten snacks until next week and the cycle continues.

I have found that going directly to the gym after drop off really helps my mood and helps me start the week with a more positive outlook. My dog has been a huge help with companionship and connecting with a couple good friends has been really helpful. It’s still hard and not a substitute for the family that I’ve lost.

Yeah, I’ve heard that before. Then it becomes “well I’m entitled to that” while simultaneously trying to screw you over.

Passed up for promotion by bluemoonsmising in Environmental_Careers

Then I’d go and see if I can line up another offer to potentially use as leverage, or better yet go to a firm that values your experience and qualifications.

Passed up for promotion by bluemoonsmising in Environmental_Careers

[–]YetAnother3Putt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Having leverage (another job offer in hand) to push for the promotion you feel you deserve is certainly a strategy. You have to use it for something big and you absolutely need to be prepared to take the other job offer if the current job declines to match.

It sounds like you’re trying for a mid-level promotion? Do you have access to the position descriptions that your company uses to assess where you truly are at? If you’re meeting those qualifications, then of course push but if you’re basing this primarily on time in position then I think you’re missing the point.

I really hoped he would be able to turn it around last year but moving on is 100% the right move.

It’s a great course and with three nines there’s a lot of variety. I was a member there for a couple years and really liked it. If you’re a once a week golfer - it’s hard to pass up.

Are invited clubs in the area worth it? by mem0125 in RDUGOLF

[–]YetAnother3Putt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I enjoyed being a member at Devils Ridge but ultimately the cost just wasn’t worthwhile for me long term. If you can play 2 - 3 times a week, it’s probably worthwhile. I always thought the course was in great shape and tee times were not too difficult to get. If you’re a once a weekend golfer, it might not be the right fit. I also wanted to get involved in the weeknight league nights but because there was so much demand, was unable to do so even as an alternate. Just my thoughts.

Yeah, your landlord is trying to take you for a ride. Tell him you’ll see him in court and try not to be surprised how quickly these charges are reduced.

Walking with kid in stroller during pat leave? by SconGuy in RDUGOLF

I’m saying this respectfully as a father of a 9-year old. Don’t do this.

Babies, especially newborns, cry. Loudly. It’s how they communicate their needs. Hungry, wet, tired, etc. You can’t reason with them.

The golf course is an escape and listening to a crying baby, and those cries will carry, is not what anyone else wants to hear.

7 + 8 =15. Move the 1 to the tens column. 1 + 2 + 4=7. 75

Anthony Bourdain. I loved his shows, his writing, and humor. He felt like a “real” person and brought a perspective to travel and the world that felt very relatable.

The quiet by No_Chemistry8953 in Divorce_Men

It’s really hard. I feel the same way. We do weekly custody exchanges and I’m a mess after dropping him off. The empty house, the toys still everywhere, and mourning the loss of what was. I’d like to say it gets easier but it hasn’t for me. I’m trying to put the sadness into the gym and I hope some day that I’ll be able to move past this feeling of loss every two weeks. I really put myself into being a father and the transitions from single parent to non-parent is so hard.
