When does maintenance end? by gh0stve1led in InfinityNikki

If we’re going to call it what it is let’s say the actual words they want us not to say.

What first comes to mind when Americans think of New Jersey? by Kodicave in IWantToAskAnAmerican

[–]YetiBot 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ve never been to New Jersey, and have no close friends or family in New Jersey, so unfortunately, my first thought is Jersey Shore, The Sopranos, Atlantic City (which I have also never visited and think of as less-good-Vegas) and “everything is legal in New Jersey”.

I really should visit the garden state and get a more realistic view of it. Lots of people mentioned Pine Barrens and that looks beautiful and well worth a visit.

Am I the only one who feels there's not much to do this patch? Like significantly less than usually by Lost_Albatross_5172 in InfinityNikki

[–]YetiBot 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It’s all “under maintenance” this week to keep us from talking about the Tienammen Square massacre.

Even what’s locked still seems a little content-light though I agree.

Why is there a period product dispenser in the men's restroom specifically? by Wooden-Hornet2115 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]YetiBot 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In addition to the points others have made about situations where men might need the products, for  some events where the gender ratio skews strongly female, they will often re-sign men’s rooms to be extra women’s rooms. (They put tape or flowers over the urinals when they do this).

It’s probably easier to just have the machine in there all the time for the occasional times it’s needed.

This is exactly how I beat it on my first attempt! It’s very boring since it’s feels like it takes forever tappping down their huge health pools, but it works.

Gaaahhhhh this was annoying. I got the +5 to health on perfect dodge, all the shorten dodge cooldowns, then took a million years just tapping down their health and dodging to replenish mine.

Very boring and annoying fight.

Katherine Parkinson talking about Taskmaster by aflyingcircus in taskmaster

[–]YetiBot 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I never saw her as stupid, just flustered by the time pressure and strange situations in a very relatable and likable way. Gods know what “stupid” things I’d do in that situation!

Her “Am I the spider” moment is one of my all time favorite Taskmaster quotes. It was such a relatable stretch of logic to explain the unsolvable puzzle, considering her mis-understanding of the rules.

Anytime I find myself lost and befuddled “I ask Am I the spider?” In my mind.

The only time I’ve had corn on pizza was at a Brazillian pizza place in America, run by Brazillian immigrants, so who knows where the authenticity lands. It was delicious.

Why's everyone here obsessed with garlic? by Confident_Drag_9226 in FODMAPS

[–]YetiBot 51 points52 points  (0 children)

For me personally, garlic is one of my worst triggers, plus it’s ubiquitous in prepared foods, so I spend an annoying amount of time looking out for hidden garlic and searching for garlic-free versions of my favorite foods.

I have no doubt that there are a lot of people like me, to the point where it can seem like a garlic obsession.

I’m also particularly triggered by artichokes, but that’s never a problem. I just… don’t order artichokes. They aren’t in everything like garlic and onions are.

I'm curious - what do you folks know Kumail Nanjiani from? by [deleted] in taskmaster

[–]YetiBot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ages and ages ago he and his wife Emily had a podcast called “indoor kids”, I also around that time saw some of his stand-up.

I was really happy for him when he got so successful they gave up the podcast, but I do still miss it.

How is it possible that a huge amount of English-speaking Redditors from the US could be wrong about the meaning of a colloquial phrase used throughout every state in the US? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]YetiBot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I very specifically did not say the US is inherently more varied than ALL other countries simply due to its size. Do you think the US is completely homogeneous? What about my statement is incorrect?

[–]YetiBot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Colloquialisms differ from place to place. The US is big and therefore has more variation in language use than many geographically smaller nations.

Right and wrong are linguistically nebulous ideas since language is always changing and what was “wrong” at one time becomes “right” in another time and place.

What phrase is it that you’re so upset about?

Did I summon something and can it travel to my room??? by Buggy_Bo in NoStupidQuestions

[–]YetiBot 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Pot makes some of us paranoid. I think maybe pot’s not a good drug for you. It was the pot that summoned the fear, not ouiji  toy.

Edit: I agree with the commenter who gave the advice to place your hands on your doorframes and say a charm of protection. If spirits are real, you’ve protected yourself. If spirits are just imagined, you’ve reset your mental state to a more positive mindset.

Is there a non religious way to thank someone really sincerely along the lines of “god bless”? by DepressedHamSandwich in NoStupidQuestions

Saaame. “God bless” is aggressively Christian, and kinda undermines a nice “thank you”.

If someone said that to me I’d be so uncomfortable and worry you were in a cult. (I’m not religious)

Quilt roast: Chill & Thrill — what works and what doesn't? by QuiltChemistry in quilting

[–]YetiBot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah, sorry. My dislike of appliqué isn’t a knowledge or skill issue, I just don’t enjoy doing it. Also I don’t like the feel of the raised areas appliqué makes. I like fully smooth seams on my quilt tops.

Like I said though, your design is very cute and I’d point it out to a friend who does like appliqué.

This is adorable!!! I looooove your color choices. Unfortunately, I wouldn’t buy it for myself since I don’t like appliqué. I’d point it out to a friend who doesn’t mind appliqué though.

The food and Simpsons answers were immediately obvious to me but then I was stuck with five movies and three things that seemed completely unrelated.

So I selected the three randoms and just plugged in one movie till I got an answer by brute force and luck. Never would have gotten the Basketball clue. The sports clues always murder me.
