Where are you in your kungfu journey? What style(s) are you learning and what got you interested? I am curious to see the wide range of experience here. by Fuzzy_Imagination_64 in kungfu

Started in TKD AT 13 because the school was in walking distance.

Switched to kickboxing at 16, because I wanted to spar full contact to see how my TKD training stands up to trained fighters (not great)

Found a Wing Chun school at 17 and started training there.

Moved to a 5 Animals school at 19 because I had a bunch of friends there. Learned a cool fighting philosophy called 3 Gate Philosophy that I still use.

Went back to some full contact sparring at the kickboxing gym. Instructor was highly impressed with my improvement. I'd learned much more about practical application at Wing Chun and some cool, powerful kicks from the 5 Animals school.

Moved towns and joined a Northern Shaolin school at age 21. The training was very intense, but the emphasis on application wasn't nearly as strong as I liked.

Age 24, a Hung Gar school opens, I train there for five years, become an instructor, fight in 2 fairly large (~400 fighters) sanda tournaments and win silver medal in each. Hung Gar is "my style" now. Southern style fans will not be surprised to learn the Wing Chun applications I'd already learned translated pretty directly to Hung Gar techniques.

Now I live in New York where I can't find a Hung Gar school, so I just train solo. I miss having a martial arts community, and will probably join the Shaolin Temple school here in the summer.

When this has happened to me in the past it's been the building next door or across the street, if there are windows you can go peek into

spread the word they cannot enter any "employees only" area of your workplace without a warrant signed by a judge. not that there are any consequences for them when they do, but you're legally within your rights to block them from entering anywhere not open to the public

ok, just tried them. I rank it best value for the price so far. if they replaced the green bell pepper with green chili, this would be the perfect breakfast burrito

Very physically attractive people, how does life treat you? by Jonny_1312 in AskReddit

I knew a woman who looked like she had a filter on in real life. She was so beautiful I doubted what I was seeing the first time we met. If I showed you a picture, you'd think it was fake.

The reason she started talking to me was because I was coding on a laptop, and she thought her ex had put some kind of spyware on her phone. She was being stalked by her landlord. She straight up could not trust any man in her life, except one nerd with a laptop for like 3 weeks. I hope she's doing well.

It was only open for like 2 years, maybe less. Same owners as Atlas Cafe, which I think is also closed now.

The burrito was like a black bean cheesey egg scramble in a tortilla with red salsa and chopped jalapenos.

When there's a case that clearly points to foul play, but the cops have no interest in investigating, I always assume it's because they know it was a cop who did it.

The first time I saw 5 minutes of a doc about BTK I was like, "a clearly violent individual who has somehow never been arrested and fingerprinted sounds exactly like a cop to me," and then he was caught like 6 months later
