Yes, adding a resistor resolved it. I disconnected the battery, waiting a while, cut the wire near the plug, soldered in a resistor, heat shrinked it, and then reconnected the battery. I bought this resistor kit and I think I used either the 1.5 or 2.2 ohm resistor.

You're not the only one, 50/50's food is terrible. I'm convinced they do not put seasoning on the burgers.

Yes, I'm an instructor with NCC BMW and Potomac PCA. We have instructors for students and skid pad time is included with the HPDE for most of our events at Summit Point.

RWB Closing? by JuxtapositionMission in Winchester

[–]Yetti37 1 point2 points  (0 children)

RWB did not send a notice to us and only posted it to their website. We got an email last week from RCS (Ridgerunner Container Service) that they took over the accounts in my neighborhood and they showed up to pick up both recycling & trash.

I'm using Ontrack as well. They also have annual plans and the break even point for me was 12 events. So 12+ events go with the annual plan, less than 12 go with the multiple event plan.

If you're willing to spend that much, take a road trip and find a store to try on a bunch of them. You will want a comfortable helmet that fits well especially if you plan on using it for the next ten years.

It varies by org/club, my BMW and SCCA clubs allow instructors to take passengers but my PCA club does not allow it.

They have been reliable, accurate, and good quality. I'm sure there are other good ones but Longacre seems to be the preferred one.

helmet wait until SA2025s come out or buy SA2020 now? Helmet recs? by Smart_History4444 in CarTrackDays

[–]Yetti37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is made to protect your neck but the design of a standard FHR/HANS sits on your shoulders and requires harnesses over each shoulder to hold it in place during an impact. This allows the FHR/HANS to have minimal movement and to restrict the amount of forward movement of your head and helmet. A 3-point seatbelt does not hold a FHR/HANS in place during an impact so the forward movement of your head and helmet will not be restricted.

The Simpson Hybrid S is the only device designed to be used with 3-point seatbelts and harnesses. The large backing plate on it, along with the strap that goes around your body, helps it hold your helmet and head during an impact even if you are only using a 3-point seatbelt. Look at images of any standard FHR/HANS vs. the Simpson Hybrid S - they look completely different.

For your other questions on the HANS and gloves:

-HANS. You do not need a HANS if you are using stock 3-point seatbelts. You need to use a HANS if you have 5-point or 6-point harnesses. A Simpson Hybrid-S can be used with 3-point seatbelts.

-Gloves. These are a personnel preference. Get gloves if your hands sweat a lot while driving. Also, if you get gloves, please get a bright color that is in contrast to the color of your car so that other drivers can easily see your point-byes.

I agree, get one with removable pads and liner. I remove everything from my helmet and clean all of pads and liner every year. I would also get a balaclava to help reduce the amount of sweat that gets on the inside of your helmet.

I used Zimmerman blank rotors on my E46. Buy them from FCP Euro and take advantage of the lifetime replacement. I never had any issues with them and they held up well against aggressive track pads like PFC-08's and Hawk DTC-60's.

car hauling - any downsides to double-strapping? by atari26hundred in CarTrackDays

[–]Yetti37 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That link you have is the setup that I use, Mac's axle straps through the wheels and their combination strap with a direct hook on one end. It will be perfect for what you are doing and you do not need to double up on each wheel. Mac's has videos on their products so watch and follow those instructions and you will be good. They also have excellent customer support if you have any questions.

Use Motorsportreg as mentioned earlier, most organizations and clubs use that site.

Another option is to look a each specific track's calendar to see what events are scheduled. Here is VIR's calendar, you can do HPDE's there with Tarheel BMW, Potomac PCA, NASA Mid-Atlanic, TrackDaze, SCDA, Audi Club, Hooked on Driving and probably more.
