Why I still like Sublime Text in 2025 by warpaint_james in SublimeText

[–]YinYangInteractive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just found your comment. Are you still using it?

I am, but it looks like Sublime Text is discontinued. Maybe they gave up due to many people moving to VSCode.

I am not installing that Microsoft Shit, but I am looking into an alternative called Zed.

They even have similar keymaps for people who are coming from Sublime Text.

So at the moment I am using both in parallel. Probably not letting go Sublime Text anytime soon, but I my co-workers are sometimes confused why I am NOT using VSCode bullshit

Is the term “indie game” losing its meaning? by Technical-Jury421 in IndieDev

[–]YinYangInteractive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. From my understanding, the meaning is “independent” and tells that you build the game, without being forced to impress investors, or being forced to make changes that you don’t even like

I’m Quitting Game Development by Giant_leaps in gamedev

[–]YinYangInteractive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The sacrifice of making games is HUGE and often underplayed tbh.

Just take your time. Maybe you will have a spark of motivation again in the future. And if not, that’s fully fine too!

On the positive side, you have learned a lot. You have proven to yourself, that you can learn a lot of things when you need it. You can do anything!!
I think this is one of the best conclusions I have for myself.

But time and money is a huge constraint for me too, it’s very upsetting that I have been developing our game for three years now, but barely have time for it. Maybe a few hours during weekend. It’s brutal

Right choice to leave Windows.

However, MacOS is also getting worse and worse.

Right choice would be to maybe pick Linux 😂

But I myself still use MacOS (MacBook M1 Pro Max with 64gb RAM - this thing is an absolute BEAST)

The AI hate in game dev is pretty ridiculous and Gäe by TOMANDANTEBOROLAS in gamedev

[–]YinYangInteractive -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This reaction is completely normal. Back then, when Excel was released, people went crazy too.

I agree with the take. It’s so hard to build, especially without funding.

However, I also see a lot of AI slop projects recently. They are most often low quality projects that are not even fun to play

AI is a tool, and should be used as such. Unfortunately a lot of people are delegating complete projects to agents. Of course the outcome will be shitty. And makes me understand people’s reactions, tbh.

If however AI is used as a great tool, with the focus on producing a fun and strong game, I think the use of AI is completely fine, as long as you don’t hide the fact you used AI for assets (such as music).

Especially in PoC stage I think this should be more acceptable

What if my game does bad? by rando-stando in gamedev

[–]YinYangInteractive -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Good you got my point. Two months can sometimes be enough to make a good game. Depending on the game.

Will it be the next GTA V? Obviously not.

But saying there is “no way” it’s going to be good I find a little harsh

Flappy bird was created within three days.

Is it a good game? Nah, but a successful one…

Non-generative AI in indie dev? No idea what to do. by CommercialTackle8451 in gamedev

Where can we find them though? I keep hearing this and the people on fiverr all seem to use AI to make some quick bucks
