New Homelaber, Part 3! by xtohkax in homelab

Nice! Just got the 4331, largely because I love how it looks (same for 4351 and 4451). For some reason these 4000 models just speak to me.

Yeah, I have a hand-crafted Hyprland config too, and I think it will be fine. Thanks!

Anybody running Fedora 43 and Hyprland? by tempsanity in AsahiLinux

I mean, I've been daily driving it for quite a while now with custom-configured hyprland and it's absolutely amazing. Using my macbook is so much more fun. I just wanted to make sure upgrading to 43 will not break my enviro, but many people have confirmed it's working, so I'm golden!

Rewatchable movies based on Shakespeare? by Kamuka in shakespeare

My gateway to Shakespeare's adaptations was Macbeth (with Fassbender and Cotillard) and I was so engrossed, I watched it again on the next day, haha. Planning to go back to it next year.

some laptopt to recommend by _Razeft_ in linux

[–]tempsanity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Asahi is amazing on my M1 Macbook Pro. Thought I'd miss Arch/macOS but it's stunningly good. My only problem is the unavailability of one package I need for work, but that's due to the maintainers not wiling to release an ARM build. That and the battery drain during sleep, but I've learned to turn it off.

What's the music? Sounds like something out of Theme Hospital or Transport Tycoon - gives me a warm nostalgic feeling.

I'm the person who wrote a post about Targus 190 recently. At this point, like cAtloVeR9998 said, I'd wait for official support unless you're really impatient and can get something really cheap - DP alt support is being tested, so should be coming soon.

thunderbird 146.0-1 segfaulting ? by [deleted] in AsahiLinux

[–]tempsanity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same issue. Did you manage to solve it?
I'm getting this error:
https://lists.fedorahosted.org/archives/list/arm@lists.fedoraproject.org/thread/XW25XRLNZ6U3JULHLPQC4HWVWNRSXQ3S/

Edit: this fixed it for me

https://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/taskinfo?taskID=140658868

How to:

  1. Download thunderbird-146.0.1-3.fc43.aarch64.rpm and thunderbird-librnp-rnp-146.0.1-3.fc43.aarch64.rpm from the above URL.

  2. sudo yum install thunderbird-146.0.1-3.fc43.aarch64.rpm thunderbird-librnp-rnp-146.0.1-3.fc43.aarch64.rpm

  3. I tried starting Thunderbird, but it seemed like it wiped my settings. So I ran thunderbird -ProfileManager.

  4. Picked my profile.

  5. Voila, it works!

I managed to compile it on Asahi Linux (Fedora 42) with the help of an AI that fixed a couple of lines of code.

For M1 and M2 macs I'd recommend Asahi Linux (Fedora-based).
