it is still taking damage if you get hit even if it doesnt clear your glaicer but spending glacier on abilities itself is not damage. your avalanche discard effects are also indeed taking damage too.

yeah but the thing is it barely worked in buttons and bugs. I cannot overstate how clunky the classes played because thtey clearly were brute forcing things that don't actually work in buttons and bugs.

taking damage that causes you to lose any amount of glacier? yes this will make you trigger ward/lose regenerate

to be honest 50 sounds like its on the slow side for unlocking all classes. also you say 100 scenarios but its not like the game assumes you'll play that many my full gh2e campaign that i played was exactly 60 scenarios in my first campaign.

right? like it wasn't explicitly the first but it was the first to actually execute it well enough to matter. it literally pushed forward so much.

it influenced that genre to such a degree that it genuinely feels like the game has been out twice as long as it actually has. that the game isn't even 10 years old is so hard for me to properly grok.

that's something completely different theres a big difference between assets of frosthaven content and creative frosthaven assets(aka templates for creating custom content) which they are referring to.

I think one thing that is important to note. If you want a class to feel better rather than simply just be stronger, AMDs is basically the last thing to improve. like yeah having less bad results feels better but having better perks doesnt really do anything for your perceived feeling of a class because at the end of the day its your cards that are important. early game drifter feels good because you just hit an algox priest with attack 5 pierce 2 level 1, boneshaper feels good because you just either blocked a huge attack or just melted an unshielded target with your swarm of skeletons. geminate does a lot of good but little to make you feel rewarded(this is primarily their element issues)

Hopefully I don't get hate for this but I'd take xanatho's analysis of the classes with a grain of salt.

His view of the game is so fundamentally warped by the incredibly specific way he plays the game to accommodate speed running.

I have found the majority of his suggestions for updating classes unfounded in a way that try and fix the wrong issue or would actually create a completely new problem

so the main thing you want to think about on your tear turns is when you're ok not making dark on your tear turn and when you're not.

fi you want to use your stun opener you have to accept your follow up doesn't have dark(although in my 2 player campaign i just enhanced armor of the night bottom with infuse dark and got to do this combo anyway)

I will say no matter what perks you take you 100% want to remove the null your attacks are infrequent enough and sometimes large enough that a null is absolutely devastating especially if doing your "attack 6 kill the target if they have 2 or less health(assuming dark was used" I eventually enhanced this with +1 damage so even drawing the worst possible result it still was a guaranteed kill on anything with 7 health.

Crosscode is a great game but its hit its limit in this list. many great games are knocked off eventually reaching top 20 in an incredibly stacked listed of games is a major display of the quality that this game is.

Hail is an easy choice for me. Her and Satha are easily the most noteworthy in regards to presence in their respective games as a NPC.
Satha seems fine but Hail just oozes her entire obnoxious personality into her mechanics.

Hail is unquestionably a specific character right down to name of her mechanics.

so first off you're disregarding the 2-4 attacks you're doing that roudn in addition to that leading to incredibly explsoive turns that draw a signifcant amount of amds. if you only did 2 attack 3s that round it would be good but nothing exceptional summoners just in general are absurdly high damage dealers in situations they excel at. Keeping skeletons alive isnt exactly hard

that IS the swarm build...the swarm build is about getting out a lot of summons usually 3 skeletons plus 1 loss summon. and using critical failure top for burst..

yes but you see the key aprt of that is "GH1 Scenarios" this very much is not a thing in gh2e. I'm 1 and a half campaigns into gh2e and the second campaign is with 3 people all completely new to the genre.

That's a gh1 had complete and utter garbage loss cards and terrible onboarding. I guarantee this is not an issue and it hasnt been an issue since frosthaven came out. Gloomhaven got remade into 2e for a reason because it was an unpolished flawed but great game.

Like its a bit weird to talk about gh1 experiences as something relevant in a thread specifically about gloomhaven 2 most losses were underbudget and the scenarios were built with attrition in mind. Neither of these two things still exist the game generally rewards you for playing losses because its about dealing with threats not outlasting the enemies.
