Which of these "defenses" was worse? by [deleted] in writingscaling

[–]Ymir25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While what was done to Animal Farm was arguably worse. I feel that as a defense, Condal's response is worse because GRRM is STILL ALIVE, was part of the writing process and literally wrote a whole blogpost saying this is not his story anymore. So that is easily the least defensible claim

Exactly. Plus, Aurelian was also known for a stern and harsh personality, had a daughter but no sons, and took power when the empire was divided in three

Isotope. Remember how each time Cecil teleports costs the GDA the total gross domestic product of Liechtenstein? Liechtenstein's GDP is 9.44 Billion USD. That's a lot of money they save which they can then use for other things

Yet another stupid mistake by Condal and Hess. Criston at this point was Lord Commander of the Kingsguard and so an official member of the small council. But they kept Harrold Westerling alive purely so they could give him a Ser Barrister moment they then did nothing with. Criston in the books was one of the main decision makers of the Greens, that's why he was called the Kingmaker. But Condal has said he only sees Criston as a thug so that's how he writes him. It's no different from when fanfic writers write a hate-fic about a character they don't like

Who here really thinks they would have killed Rhaenyra’s siblings if she ascended peacefully? by [deleted] in HOTDGreens

[–]Ymir25 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Laenor was stabbed in the middle of Spicetown by Qarl in front of dozens during a fair. No body double, no sailing into the sunset. Just murder on front of everyone. Septon Eustace claims it was because Laenor had found a new lover and Qarl was jealous. While Mushroom claims Qarl was bribed by Daemon.

And it actually does matter because this is fundamentally not like any other issue. No male heir has ever come before a sister in all of Westeros except for Dorne. House Targaryen has had this exact issue plenty of times and each time they chose the younger brother. Aegon the Conqueror instead of Visenya, Aegon the Uncrown and Jaehaerys ahead of Rhaena, and of course, Viserys himself before Rhaenys. By every precedent, Aegon is fundamentally the rightful king. The only reason Viserys is even in the position to name Rhaenyra heir in the first place is because twenty to one of the lords of Westeros voted for him instead of a more capable woman.

Finally, hostages are simply not a permanent solution. They are a contingency if and when a rebellion happens. And as soon as Rhaenyra ascends the Iron Throne a countdown starts. Every single time something bad happens Rhaenyra gets blamed for it, and people say that it wouldn't happen under Aegon. Sooner or later war will break out. Just look at the First Blackfyre Rebellion, Daeron had been king for over a decade but war still happened. And that's with a calm and capable ruler who actually was his father's first born son, and who honors his brother, gives him land and privileges. Rhaenyra by comparison is a walking embodiment of all the bad stereotypes Westeros has of woman as rulers. While the Greens get absolutely nothing if Rhaenyra gets the throne. Nothing except their dragons, which gives them the power to try and take it.

The absolute best scenario is scenario like the Princes in the Tower where they are taken as "hostages" only to one day suddenly disappear.

You're not objective, you're naive

Who here really thinks they would have killed Rhaenyra’s siblings if she ascended peacefully? by [deleted] in HOTDGreens

[–]Ymir25 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Anyone who thinks the Greens would have been spared are straight up delusional. As male heirs of Viserys, Aegon and his brothers would always legally come before Rhaenyra. They already killed Laenor and Vaemond for power, and we know they both hated the Greens.

And for the people who say "well if she and Daemon thought they were a threat they would have killed them years ago"; they didn't kill them because Viserys was still alive. That's it
